Libs WMD Quotes:
I live for this....
08.06.04 (8:09 pm)   [edit]
That is the lame catch phrase being uttered by Pro baseball players in TV spots all over the place this season. Sadly, I must agree with the sentiment. I do not think there is any game more romanticized and more a part of my daily routine or thought than baseball. Why am I going on about this national pasttime? Well because my boys, the St. Louis Cardinals, are running away with the NL Central and have the best record in baseball.

Boy thats a pretty sight.

But wait it gets better. Today the strong and mighty Cards got stronger and well, mightier. They added the 1997 NL MVP and perenial all star Larry Walker from Colorado. His huge bat and excellent fielding skills will be used to give the Cards some solidarity in the of where they have had to platoon fielders on either side of MVP candidate Jim Edmonds all season with the likes of Reggie Sanders, Jim Mabry, So Taguchi, and Roger Cedeno. This makes the best lineup in baseball even better:

              Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Average    HR     RBI
1. Tony Womack    .298          5       30
2. Edgar Renteria    .289         8       48 (Gold Glover)
3. Albert Pujols       .326        31      80 (MVP Candidate)
4. Larry Walker        .324       6       20 (In Only 38 GP)
5. Scott Rolen         .334      26      97 (MVP Candidate)
6. Jim Edmonds        .303      30      79 (MVP Candidate)
7. Reggie Sanders    .252       17      51
8. Mike Matheny      .255        2       30 (Perrenial Gold Glover)
9. Pitcher (Team ERA: 3.83 & WHIP: 1.27)

And to mimic the greatest announcer of all time I would like to say, "And thats a winner!!!"

I'm a big baseball fan, too, Jim. And, while I can't say the Cards are my team, I've always loved 'em.

Come on Jim, you know that this year is THE year for my beloved Red Sox.

Just as last year was THE year, hmmm..........

I don't know about that. My boys have the best record in baseball and are 14 games up in their division. Your boys on the other hand are battling to even get into the playoffs as a wildcard. Although a BoSox Cards World Series would be a great time IMO.

Jim

Yeah I agree that the wildcard is not ours (Red Sox) just yet. And I think St. Louis might just be the team to beat.

I am, however, a rare find in Red Sox Nation: I am optimistic and cheerful about my boys of summer.

I thought all in Red Sox nation were optimistic? I mean its been what, 95 years now and you all still think every year is the year. Hell, I am begining to believe the Cards are cursed after only 23 years. Argh, has it really been that long?
