The Cubs Suck!
08.21.04 (6:37 pm) [edit]
This is begining to become a running gag with me here but I just can't let it go.
While my St. Louis Cardinals continue to pad the best record in the league the midwest (psuedo) rivals are tanking per their usual late season swan dive.
One more example of this was tonight's game against central division rival Houston.
Boy do those Cubbies suck.

Sooooo many choices...
08.21.04 (4:05 pm) [edit]
Which one should I get?
I just cant decide. I mean just look at how many there are here.
I do have to say that I am leaning towards this one even if I do have to settle for a replica instead of the orignal 1873 model.
Do you have a favorite?

This is some of the coolest shit I ever read in a long long time. Speed of light exceeded, physics causality non existent, and holograms were all supposed to be part of science fiction but it appears that mayb, just maybe within my lifetime it will be science fact.
Way too cool.

I know this is a bit over the top, but it made me laugh and that is deserving enough of a post at this point and time.
Enjoy.

My Apologies....
08.16.04 (3:18 pm) [edit]
It has been brought to my attention that during my hiatus from blogging last month there was no beating back the ferocious and idiotic fallacies of Mikey Moore's latest mockumentary by the Are You High?! site. So in order to rectify this I must post a link to the terrific peice written by Dave Kopel of the Idependence Institute. In it you will find documentation of the 59 most prevelant innaccuracies of the film.
The 59 Deceits
Feel free to reproduce the article and distribute at will as long as you do so free of charge.
Enjoy.

This could bode very well for the political scene throughout the US. I hear the winds of change, do you?
Link blatantly stolen from this guy.

A new found respect...
08.16.04 (12:35 pm) [edit]
It isn't everyday you see someone actually worth billions participating in life and society as anyone else normally would. I really do have a better feeling about and much more respect for this woman now though that she has done just that.
Kudos Oprah, kudos.

That is the lame catch phrase being uttered by Pro baseball players in TV spots all over the place this season. Sadly, I must agree with the sentiment. I do not think there is any game more romanticized and more a part of my daily routine or thought than baseball. Why am I going on about this national pasttime? Well because my boys, the St. Louis Cardinals, are running away with the NL Central and have the best record in baseball.

Boy thats a pretty sight.
But wait it gets better. Today the strong and mighty Cards got stronger and well, mightier. They added the 1997 NL MVP and perenial all star Larry Walker from Colorado. His huge bat and excellent fielding skills will be used to give the Cards some solidarity in the of where they have had to platoon fielders on either side of MVP candidate Jim Edmonds all season with the likes of Reggie Sanders, Jim Mabry, So Taguchi, and Roger Cedeno. This makes the best lineup in baseball even better:
Average HR RBI 1. Tony Womack .298 5 30 2. Edgar Renteria .289 8 48 (Gold Glover) 3. Albert Pujols .326 31 80 (MVP Candidate) 4. Larry Walker .324 6 20 (In Only 38 GP) 5. Scott Rolen .334 26 97 (MVP Candidate) 6. Jim Edmonds .303 30 79 (MVP Candidate) 7. Reggie Sanders .252 17 51 8. Mike Matheny .255 2 30 (Perrenial Gold Glover) 9. Pitcher (Team ERA: 3.83 & WHIP: 1.27)
And to mimic the greatest announcer of all time I would like to say, "And thats a winner!!!"

Man this chick rocks. She has a voice and isn't afraid to use it though, so tread lightly.
If only I could meet someone like here I would be in heaven for the rest of my days. ;-)
Or I guess I could just alter the plan and meet her instead....

This Just Keeps Getting Stranger and Stranger
08.05.04 (6:41 pm) [edit]
I try not to pay attention to any of the super trials going on in the world. You know what I mean by super trials right? The Kobe case, Scott Peterson, and now Hacking.
Well the little that I do know is the guy has said he was in med school and wasn't (or something I wasn't really paying attention) and he went to buy a mattress 20 minutes after reporting her missing or some type of nonsense, and now he gives an alias to the police while being booked?
I just don't get it. Maybe I should pay more attention. I just can't bring myself to do it. I feel like I am in someway feeding the beast. The beast the is turning all legal proseedings into a game show atmosphere and the idea of a speedy trial is a distant memory only. So, if I am unable to push my ideologies aside would it be possible for one of you out there to keep me informed. lol Just Send me an email.
Cheers!

Have you ever wanted to call your favorite (or least favorite) politician and let him know just what was on your mind (or your chest?)? Well now you can. Well you can for at least one politician.
His name is John Kerry.
Feel free to view his voicemail number here.
Call don't call whatever, I will not be calling. I am sure the number has been disconnected or is being ignored by now; so why bother right? And, besides if 20 some odd years in the Senate hasn't gotten it through his skull that he has been on the wrong side of everything and is still on the wrong side now, what chance do I have to alter his perception right?
Have fun.

Not only am I back in the blog world as of today, but Dean's World has some interesting reports from Afghanistan and Iraq worth reading.
These are extra important reads given the fact that no one here seems interested in reporting in the good news.

For those of you still tuning in...
08.01.04 (9:06 pm) [edit]
This blog is/was dead for sometime now. I was really debating just killing it all together for lack of time and desire to pontificate with the quality I demand from myself. But, I am still in need of a release and writing seems to be the only way to get that. Well, that and screaming at the top of my lungs at the nothingness of the night, but I digress. I am making this statement to all that are still out there paying attention, I will try to explain what has kept this place stagnate for the past month.
At work I have been given a promotion, had a manager get transfered and leave us in a lurch, and another one pretty much quit for lack of a better release. Outside of work I have been trying to cram a full semester of class work into an 8 week summer schedule. I have been a victim, along with 4 of my friends, of a violent mugging. I have been in a car wreck, totalled (sp?) my father's car, rebuilt the engine in my car twice, been served, and gotten a speeding ticket. Not nessacerily in that order.
AND, my brother is moving down here in the next week.
So as I hope you can see this blog wasn't really the most pressing issue in my day planner. I will be adding to this site a lot more from now on. It may not contain all the same pithy political commentary you may have grown accustom to. There will be some of that I am sure be I still feel the need to smite the ignorant and educate the willing. But, I will more than likely be using this as more of a personal sounding board for all sorts of crap that I have been dealing with on a daily basis. I would like to start this with the statement of the occourances the night my friends and I became victims of a violent crime. I use the term violent because it was very violent. I recieved a few cuts and was a little worse for the wear, but my friend had his nose broken in two places and another was kicked and punched brutally. There was however, no weapon involved, thankfully I guess because I am pretty sure I would have shot every last one of the idiots that night. I have begun to make arrangements to purchase my own though. Never again will I feel so powerless to help those around me, and never again do I want to be the victim of someone else's retarded indignancy simply because I am outnumbered.
While reading this keep in mind that I did this rather clear-headedly after the fact as part of an attempt to proceed with litigation against the business on whose property this occoured. Aparently this is a regular occourance. The first lawyer we approached however said that the injuries involved would not warrant a settlement substantial enough to cover the expenses of the litigation. So if any of you want to take the case "pro bono" let me know. (Honestly right now I don't even know if I want to go through a trial or any of that nonsense I simply think someone should be held accountable and something needs to be done to stop this from happening in the future. What if instead of it being us, 5 late teen early 20s well built guys, it was an elderly person or a women with children?)
At approximately 8:00 PM I drove Fransisco Ramos, Clinton Alexander, Matt Maguier, Carlos, and myself to the Taco Bell restaurant located East on Colonial (SR 50) of Hiawassee Road. As a group we placed and received our order and proceeded to the rear of the restaurant to eat. While eating a group of teenage black males entered the restaurant very belligerently. 5 to 6 of them entered all requesting water cups from the Taco Bell associate at the front counter. After filling these water cups with soda and being told not to do so by a second Taco Bell employee they cursed and left two at first then the others followed.
A few minutes passed as we as a group finished our food. When finished we proceeded outside to leave. This is when I noticed that the group of black males that was just in the restaurant was now loitering in the rear of the parking lot. (West side of the building all the way in the back where the parking lot backs up to an apartment complex.) I commented to our group that they were over there, and we continued to the car thinking nothing of it.
As we walked to the car they walked towards us. I did not think anything of this at the time because I personally thought they were simply walking back out to the sidewalk on Colonial. However, they began to holler, “Who has the money?” and “Where is the money?” We pretty much all responded the same way saying that we had none and explaining that we had just scrounged together nickels and dimes to buy tacos and we were broke. After this exchange I began to realize that this was not going to be the end of it. I attempted to unlock and open the driver’s door in order to expedite our exit. One black male wearing a white t-shirt and either sweat pants or jeans then hit Carlos in the back of the head two times.
The next few minutes were a jumble due to 6 of them and 5 of us running around, them trying to rob or beat us and us trying to figure out how to defend ourselves. I was presented with one black male in a red tank top and black pants(1) and another in a white t-shirt with a headband in jean shorts(2). I was continuously trying to turn in circles to keep them both in front of me, but as I got on the phone to dial 911 I was struck in the back of the head with a fist. I was also swung on from the first assailant. He missed and I was able to hit him in the jaw I dropped my keys in doing this and quickly had them thrown at me. It was this that caused my lacerations on the dorsal side of my left arm.
After a few moments on the phone with 911 giving descriptions and trying to explain that someone needed to show up the assailants left. Running north through the parking lot into either the wooded area directly behind Taco Bell or the apartment complex adjacent to the parking lot. After clearing sight an Orange County Police Officer arrived on scene. He asked where they went who it was but continuously cut me off when I tried to aid him. Never did he nor any other officer ask for a statement of what happened, and at least 3 times the first officer cut me off while I was trying to give him descriptions and explain where the assailants ran away to.
We as a group were all a little disturbed by the attitude of the police that this was a regular occurrence. I guess this is what prompted Carlos to ask, “Has this happened here before?” to which the cop replied, “Yes…” This led me to ask about possible video in the Taco Bell restaurant due to the fact that the group had been in there just minutes before at the counter by the register, as well as the fact that if this has happened before there would be a logical foresee ability of this happening again. The cop then told me to my surprise, “No, they don’t do that.” “They don’t do what? Have video? Give it out? What?” I was beginning to see that this was not an important incident in their eyes, and he responded, “They don’t have video.”
This cop, the first one on the scene went on to assist Matt and the EMS workers in getting him on the stretcher and into the ambulance. A second policeman then undertook the job of copying our information from our driver’s licenses. The only information I can recall actually getting from any of the officer’s involved was which hospital Matt was being taken to. I was even turned down when I asked for a report number.
After Matt was loaded on the ambulance in route to the hospital all EMS workers and cops left at one time. At no time did anyone from Taco Bell make any effort to stop this fiasco nor did any come down after it was over to see if anyone required medical attention. There were however employees and restaurant customers oogling the fight and hooting and hawing at the results. When all was said and done those of remaining left in my car back to Cisco Ramos’ house from which Fransisco, Clinton, and Carlos proceeded to the hospital and I went home.
Now that you know what I have been screwing with for the last month, what have you been up to? I am sure it has been beer and skittles stuff just like my past 30 days.
