More Politicization of 9-11
06.29.04 (5:54 pm) [edit]
Disgusting, Inflammatory, and Factually Wrong.
I am embarrassed to have her as part of my political party. Fern Shubert has completely distorted reality with her newest ad and in doing so has trivialized the loss of so many innocent lives. I don't know what is worse the fact that she used the images so blatantly to garner support or that she is incorrectly drawing a connection between the attacks that day and driver's liscenses for illegals. Now as most of you should know I am 100% against any type of ID card, driver's license, or assistance for immigrants who enter and stay in this country illegally, but that not withstanding, the hijackers on 9-11 illegals with driver's licenses. So the connection doesn't even fit.
The sooner we get back remembering everyday what we lost on that day and get away from trying to capitalize on what some did we will be in a far better place as a country. Let the victims rest in peace and try to learn from the mistakes of that day.
Although I would have to say that as bad as this was/is it still doesn't beat the former Vice President of the United States calling me and the rest of the pro-war blogging folks "digital brownshirts". On that topic the QOAE proves yet again why she is # 1.

Reality Funnier Than Fiction
06.24.04 (4:42 pm) [edit]
I nearly pissed myself after seeing this story. This may be due to me knwing/having known so many potheads in my life, or it could just be because I needed the stress relief. Either way you should have a read.
Petition organizers last week announced that they had submitted sufficient signatures to qualify the petition for the November ballot.
However, Billy Rogers, president of the political consulting firm seeking to qualify the petition, subsequently discovered a box of about 6,000 signatures that no one remembered to turn in.
Wonder how they managed to forget something like that?

Too busy to blog on the current state of affairs in Saudi Arabia myself right now, so...
Go read this at Dean's World and this at RWN and this at A Small Victory.
Nothing really to say that isnt covered in those articles already, so I will simply leave you with:
God Bless, God bless us all.
Had to add this one from the Queen. Without it I would be hiding my true feelings of these animals.

Michael Moore + Hezbollah = Summer Movie Magic
06.18.04 (8:53 am) [edit]
I am sure I am not the only one who has noticed Mr. Moore's history of lying credibility issues, but aparently someone likes what they see so much that they are offering to help the movie succeed. Actually there are 2 groups.
Hezbollah and MoveOn.Org
Hezbollah is looking to help the Mock-umentary maker garner more exposure in movie theaters by helping in "any way possible." And MoveOn.GeorgeSoros.Moonbat.Org is looknig to put butts in seats on opening night.
Right now I don't know which one is the more worrisome threat to America and her people. Moore's lunacy, MoveOn.Org, or Hezbollah, but I do know they are all in the same handbasket to hell bed looking for the same outcome.

Reporters Say
06.18.04 (8:13 am) [edit]
Just another case of seeing and hearing one thing and deciding to report another. Don't worry though, Cheney is out there spreading the ture nature of things. And doing it quite well as a matter of fact, at least thats the way Mr. Andrew Sullivan (As well as myself) sees things.
Thankfully this may cause deviation, by some press outlets, away from beating the dead horse that is the Abu Graihb coverage. (The NYT had run a front page story on Abu Ghraib for 32 days straight!)

A few tweaks...
06.16.04 (6:53 pm) [edit]
Just making a few minor changes to the apearance of Are You High?!? right now.
Tell me what you think, or perhaps what you wish was here that isn't. I don't know how I like the color scheme right now but I have to say that it is easier to read with the grey in the center than it was with the white.
I am terrible at decorating. HELP! ;-)

Give them what they want, then take what we need...
06.16.04 (6:34 pm) [edit]
By now we all have heard of the ongoing story about the latest hostage of radicals in the middle east. Paul Johnson Jr. has been held hostage ala Nick Berg with a video released in the same fashion. Only difference is that this incident is happening in Saudi Arabia not Iraq and they are asking for Al Queda prisoners to be released not for the US led forces to leave the area.
What difference does any of this make? Glad you ask let me explain how I see things.
The incident happening in Saudi Arabia shows how rampant these terror cells are in the area. It also goes to show how easily they are moving throughout the region. Helping to substantiate my (others have voiced this opinion as well but I am taking ownership for royalty purposes.) thoughts that those in Iraq fighting the coalition forces are not Iraqis in general, they simply are fighters of the same terror guild trying to avoid a going out of business sale.
On to the difference in the terrorist's (a.k.a. murdering thugs') request. They have obviously come to the conclusion that the US led coalition is not going anywhere. Threats or no threats, beheadings or no beheadings, the troops will continue to show steely resolve. Thus the only way to get the ultimate goal of them leaving realized is to overwhelm them with more opposition. And just remember every time a suicide (a.k.a. homicide) bomber goes boom there is one less terrorist in there ranks. So they have to replenish from somewhere, right? Where better than the prisons to pull more murderous drones of UBL?
But onto the situation at hand.
I say we give the terrorists what they want.
Yes you read that right. I say we release every single prisoner they want. Get that poor man back and send him home to his grief stricken family.
Now to most of you reading this, my statement may seem crazy. Given that the US and Saudi Arabia have a long standing stance of not negotiating with terrorists. (Saudi Arabia's is mainly because they think the zionists are behind it all, but we can cover that next time.) Also you probably all no me to be a hawk in the war on terror, and an asshole to boot. None of this would equate with the idea of caving to the terror suspects and letting loose the droves of Islamo-facists they are asking for.
Well, there is a catch. (You knew it was coming. Don't look so surprised) Who reading this owns a pet? I do. I have 2 dogs. They were always getting out of the collars and getting lost. It was a giant pain in the ass to find them because without a collar no one knew where they belonged. That is until they had made their rounds to every house within a quarter mile. In order to prevent day long searches for the mutts (I type that with love) we had locator chips inserted under their skin/fur so that wherever they went a scan could be done of that chip by whomever found them. This made it so that even without their collars they could still be located and identified by the person who found them. (Did that make any sense? Read this for lots more info on the technology) Enough about my damn dogs though. Let's get back to those other dogs, the terrorist prisoners in Saudi Arabia (I am gonna get flack for calling them dogs aren't I?).
Let them all go. After drugging them into a slumber and having some CIA ghosts implant these little doo-hickeys in their armpit. Let them go and frolic. Let them go have parties in the street happy and gleeful at their release.
And then send a tomahawk missle up their rears! Problem solved? No, but at least the problem at hand with these particular loons is solved, and the problems in general would probably get a little better after these people (There I go calling them people again. What are they people or dogs?) realize that we aren't screwing around.
A wise person once said,"Sometimes good cannot be used to battle evil, you must battle it with a greater evil."(Ok so it wasn't a wise man, I don't think, it was line in the Chronicles of Riddick movie) In thnis case it simply be devious in place of evil. Right now we are playing this straightup just like any other conflict while our opposition is running around storing weapons in masques, setting car bombs, shuttling insurgents in ambulances, and fighting in plain clothes.
Why not at least try and beat them at part of their own game?

I don't know how I missed this one but thankfully the Dog Snot Diaries has it all covered.
Wonder who they will be voting for in their first Presidential election? Or better yet wonder if they want to have dinner with a tall, good looking, blog author from Florida?
Only time will tell I guess.

I don't link to the beautiful RedTigress nearly enough, but understand that it is simply because I thought you all were reading her site daily to begin with.
But, without further adu (or is it ado) I want you all to go here and read this, and read about the true leanings of our higher education system.
Leave her a comment too, there is nothing better about blogging than the discussions they can bring to life.

Bad Form...
06.11.04 (8:39 am) [edit]
I recently was reading the Queen's Site and came across a discussion regarding the supposed snubbing of Democrats from the Reagan memorial services. I just happen to be reading this while GWB was giving his magnificent eulogy; so I was in a strange mindset when trying to write a response.
The Wellstone debacle does not equal Reagan memorial simply because the left does not equal the right.
Whereas the left is looking for a political motivation for all things political or not and turned the reigns of that service over to MacAwful and the DNC the Reagan family and the right sought to remember and honor the man that meant so much to this country and all of us within in its boundaries.
The only thing I can say to Clinton, Carter, et al that are miffed about not being asked to speak is bad form. Very bad form. Humility comes before honor and it is claer from the actions of these men they have neither and are simply trying to make Reagan no longer the focus. This is what has been time and time before throughout other public events with the Democratic party but I for one am happy that Nancy was brave enough to see things done the right way.
I am sure that Clinton could have waited and walked through just like anyone else, written an oped piece, or even been on any number TV shows in order to pay his respects, but of course this is not what he or any of the others is trying to do. They are trying to 1. politicize a nonpolitical event and 2. trying to make themselves the focus out of some subconcious narcisitic urge.
Bad form indeed.
I already know that Clinton spoke at Nixon's memorial service so don't use that as proof as to why he should be allowed to speak at this one. The only reason he spoke then was because he was the sitting President ala George W. Bush. Had Gore won he certainly would have been speaking. Unless of course we had been overrun by the Gaulls by now. But that is for a different discussion.

Tidbits of Info...
06.08.04 (4:05 pm) [edit]
So I return from places not so far away (Atlanta and Charleston) with info of all sorts.
1. Ronald Reagan was a great President and an even greater man. He shall be missed. But, I do believe we have a Reagan in our midst right now. Cold War/War on Terror, Hostage Crisis/9-11, Reagan-omics/Reagan-omics II, and the same attitude Reagan got from world leaders then is strikingly similar to that (albeit fleeting now that all the hard work is done; see UN Endorses Iraq Plan and Bush, G8 Leaders Show Harmony on Iraq) experienced in recent history by the current great communicator. And just as Reagan changed the world so has W. And just as Reagan is/will be remembered in greatness for those changes and the good the rought so will W.
2. The French Suck!! Will sitting in the Atlanta airport awaiting my departing flight a group of French tourists sat down and started watching the Reagan Memorial services on CNN with me. (CNN is on perma-cast in Atlanta. I will have more in relation to CNN in #3. But don't cheat and skip down.) While watching the gaurd carry in his coffin one remarked in a smarmy accent, "All of theeees faw won mon?" to which the other replied, "And for a man that did nothing." I could not believe what I was hearing. Perhaps because I am right wing I valued this man higher than others but I did not think that I would ever meet someone who would tell me Reagan did nothing. I had to respond, but before I could another comment came flying, "And what ees theees? A priest at a state memorial serveeeece. They will nevah understand the sepration of church and state."
At this point I was floored. I was literally staring at this clod trying to figure out if he was 1 Serious or 2 An Ass. I determined it was 2. and responded thusly, "Reagan was the greatest President in the last 50 years. No one man changed the landscape of the world as much as he did. The USSR is gone, the wall has been torn down, he rescued the country from double digit unemployment and double digit interest rates, and yet you say he did nothing?" The only response I got was a "Hrmf" so I walked away as it was time for another round at the bar only to hear mumbled french behind me. Truely dispecable.
3. So as I stated CNN is on perma-cast in the Airport because, well CNN is stationed in Atlanta of course. Well, needless to say really, being in Atlanta I went down to the CNN building and I saw the most hillarious thing in the world. I only wish I had brought a camera. Across from one of the CNN building was a billboard. The billboard had an advertisement. The advertisement was put there by FoxNews. It read: "We have won the ratings war. Please feel free to send your resumes to: (Insert FoxNews Address I don't remember what it was honestly.) I nearly pissed myself. Ok so maybe its not that hillarious to you but after suffering through friends defending Blitzer et al I was sure in need of some humor at CNN's expense.
4. Emory University is BEAUTIFUL! Absolutely gorgeous! The reading room is the greatest physical collection of information and periodicals I have ever come across. I say physical because the net can top them all in shear magnitude, but I digress. They had everything from the Weekly Standard to the Quarterly Review For Horse Whispering (So maybe I didn't see "that" one, but A to Z they had everything covered) And just when I thought I had seen it all another building would pop up from around the corner that just awe struck me even more. If you have children send them there, if you are a child do your school work so you can go there. Thank you to my hosts Katie and William and all the others that I came into contact with.
5. Security for the Airport is incredible. Total time spent in checkin for all 4 flights (Orlando to Charleston Charleston to Atlanta and then back again same way) I think I only spent apx. 15 minutes in a security check in. Perhaps some of that may have to do with me leaving Orlando at 5:30 in the morning, but the individuals I did come in contact with were helpful, friendly and very competant. Much better than I was expecting given the horror stories covered by news organizations about long lines and waits as well as other problems. (But I hardly rely on any bad news from the News anymore, its just counterproductive when your trying to find the truth about something) Very good experience all around. I felt safe and secure and at no time did I feel incumbered or infringed upon.
There are other things about the trip that I could write about like the Hot Dogs at the Varsity, or the coolest restuarant ever the Vortex, and the Hitler-esque smoking laws in Atlanta (Did I mention how great the Emory reading room was?), but for now I simply wanted to touch on the highlights, and lowlights in the regards of the French Disruption. All in all in was a great escape and I enjoyed every minute of it. Good to be home, but wouldn't mind still being there honestly.
If any of you want to ask or discuss any other parts of the trip let me know. I will oblige.

Sorry For The Lack Of Updates...
06.03.04 (6:33 pm) [edit]
I really wish I had more time lately to add to this blog, however with work, school, finaid for fall, and a somewhat unscheduled trip oiut of town have left me in a bit of a lurch.
So for now (I will be out of town and unable to update till at least Tuesday the 8th) enjoy the links to the left, watch some of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals, get out and enjoy the begining of summer, and just relax. You will get more Are You High?!? soon enough, I promise.
But, if you are still looking for something to occupy your time, I could use some help with some Calc work. Anyone have an easy way to remeber Derivative rules? Or, maybe a helpful hint for trig identities? I am sure that can keep all of you busy while I am gone.
Cheers, and God Bless! jim
