Millions Protest China
02.28.04 (11:04 pm)   [edit]
As far as protests go this was a doozy.

More than 2.5 million people joined hands to form a 500-kilometre (310-mile) human chain stretching the length of Taiwan in a huge anti-China protest ahead of the island's presidential elections next month, organisers said.

I don't think I have ever seen 2.5 million people doing one thing at a single time. To put it in perspective that is nearly the entire population of Jamaica.

Kerry is #1!
02.28.04 (10:13 pm)   [edit]
So if you have read anything here before you know that the other shoe is about to drop when I start give Kerry props. Well here it is:

The National Journal said today Kerry's rating of 96.5 is far ahead of the scores of Democratic leaders such as Sen. Ted Kennedy and Sen. Hillary Clinton, according to the Drudge Report.

Just remember think about it. This makes him further left than the woman who tried to introduce socialized medicine this country, and the man who has made a career out of being the poster child for the anti-right.

The link to the story is below. And feel free to dimiss it because it comes from WND and Drudge. But it is moreso the content in the message than it is the messenger.

I Cannot Stop Laughing...
02.27.04 (10:17 am)   [edit]
I know I shouldn't laugh at this because losing a job is never a funny matter, but hey they are half way around the world and I am allowed a little humor from time to time right?

"You all Look Alike To Me."
02.27.04 (10:00 am)   [edit]
How quickly would I be run out of town if I said this?

How quickly would Trent Lott be thrown out of office if he even gave the perception of this comment?

Now let me ask you this, what if it were said by a Black Democratic Congresswoman?

Well it was, and nothing has happened. It has gotten no coverage at all, and she has not been called on her obviously racist statement.
So I pose another question, why?
Is it because she is a Democrat? That certainly got Mr. Byrd, former KKK member, a free pass.
Is it because she is black? That has certainly gotten Al "Tawana Brawly" a free pass.
Is it because she is a "she"? That may have aparently worked for Mrs. Clinton with her Ghandi comments, probably not entirely but I am sure that factored into it.

Cough *DOUBLE* Cough * STANDARD* Cough

I don't know whether to be upset, because of the racially divisive remarks, or laugh because of how blatent the double standard is in regards to racism.

If you wish you can read the story Here on this little local paper.

I hate haircuts...
02.26.04 (8:59 pm)   [edit]
I hate going to get haircuts.

I hate the little barber shops. I hate the little nim-wit girl at the front who looks at me like I am retarded when I say I need a haircut. What else could she possibly think I am there for?

Once I get through the mindnumbing conversation with the valley girl, I move into the "waiting area" to read year old People magazines and decade old hairstyling books. After trying to figure out who really is behind the drawn in mustache and glasses in the photo spread I am instructed to follow a lady back to the "member's only" area. I say "member's only" because just like at the posh upscale clubs in any rich town across America they have this little rope that you are not to pass unless lead by the hand. Once back there it is time to try and hold my breath. This is because the 95 year old hunch back that is now taking a sharp object to my scalp, is douced in enough "White Linen" from Famous Barr's clearance rack to choke a man.

Now this brings me to quite possibly the worst part about getting a haircut, well the worst two parts acually.

1. Trying to explain what the hell I have been getting done to my hair for years to a woman who hardly hears anything and doesn't "Speakie very goooood Anglishhhh"
and

2. Making idle chit chat in the hopes she won't just decide taht today is the day and plunge the scissors into my skull.

After 3 attempts of explaining what hair cut I want and even pulling my hair up and all around to give her the idea I finally just pointed to a picture on the wall and said, "Do that, can you do that?"

She muttered something, I think it was a yes, I really don't know. Started cutting and I thought "Ok time to relax stare at the wall and leave." Not. Time now discuss why her grass isnt growing. She asks me "Is it ok to cut your grass when it is this wet outside?" (Here in Central Florida it has been downpouring for nearly 3 days off and on)

I reply, "I don't know I don't cut my grass, we hire someone to do it." Hoping to end the comversation and shut her up. But nooooooooo.
She then asks, "Why pay someone cutting grass is ok, of course in Trinidad I never had grass to cut."

TRINIDAD?!?!
I am having my hair cut by someone newly off the boat with one foot in the grave. So I politely answer, "I have always paid for it to be done. Just don't like to do it and others need to make a living too."

Another Half an hour of this rediculous banter, with me trying to end the small talk over and over and over (You get the point?) again, and then I am ready to inspect and leave.

"So you like? You should like, this what you want right?"

"Can you trim this here a little bit, I think that would be perfect."

"That's not in the picture, I think you say to do the picture."

At this point my ears are starting to bleed and I am ready to drink the "Barbacide" to end the pain. SO I just nod and smile blankly. She thankfully made the trim, because otherwise I would have had a handful of hairs in the middle of my head about 10 times longer than the rest.

With her blessing and the removal of my reverse-styled cape I was free to go be extorted for a service that I should have just performed myself "flowbee" style. It was cheap (I am not telling you how much because cheap for some is expensive for others and honestly that is not even close to the point of this post.) But somehow my mind went completely blank and I became a retard for the split second after recieving my change.

The entire time I was waiting to pay (there was a line and a wait there as well) I was mentally making note of what I was going to tip the Trinidad Import. I kept cycling through in my head what really irritated me about the experience and how I was only gonna give her a dollar. (You know to make a point) But like I said I become temporarily-mentally-nute red and what do I do with my change? I hand her a $10 bill and smile and say thanks. She smiles back at me with her gold capped teeth as I made my exit. And the instant I got outside, I regained my mental faculties. Once outside, I started talking out loud to myself (And everyone within earshot I suppose) asking myself why in the hell I gave her more than a buck. And you know what?

I have yet to answer that question.

The only thing I have figured out is that I hate getting my haircut.

I hate it, I hate it, I hate it.

Between the dribble drabble of mindless chit chat and the feeling that my scalp was just blitzkieged by little sausages I don't see how anyone could ever enjoy a haircut.

Round 1
02.23.04 (9:06 pm)   [edit]
Let the fun begin. The first words from Bush himself in regards to the upcoming Presidential race, and boy were they good.

Here is a piece of what he had to say:

"The other party's nomination battle is still playing out. The candidates are an interesting group with diverse opinions," Bush said. "They're for tax cuts and against them. They're for NAFTA and against NAFTA. They're for the Patriot Act and against the Patriot Act. They're in favor of liberating Iraq, and opposed to it. And that's just one senator from Massachusetts."

BURN!

Is it wrong for me to have nearly fallen out of my chair laughing when I read this? Or is it ok because it is oh so true?

I will continue to believe in the latter.

The rest of the article is Here.

The Great American Race
02.15.04 (11:09 am)   [edit]
The Daytona 500 has just started with President George W. Bush saying those magic words, "Start your engines."

Biffle moved from the pole to the end of the pack after having to change engines before the start.

This moved Dale Jr. into the pole. He is still leading 13 laps in.

There has been 1 caution flag so far as Mark Martin's car filled with smoke due to an engine failure, but he was able to avoid a major pile up through some very good driving.

Updates to Follow!

**Harvick is your new leader after a pit stop for all the leader. This was a green flag pit.

Labonte went wide into the grass on his attempted pit. Lost some time but no aparent damage to his car.

The yellow is out again after the 50 car went into the wall on turn 4. This is not a good thing for those who just pitted on green, but they will all stay on the lead lap.

***Johnson is the Leader after another pile up.

**** Johnson has fallen back now and the new leader is Dale Jr. again.

*** Pile up on the back straightaway has brought out another yellow. Rusty Wallace, Schrader, and others being involved in the wreck. A few cars a a lap down get back on the lead lap. Labonte and Biffle are two of those.
New leaders after the third yellow: 1 Tony Stewert, 3 Kenseth, 3 Earnhardt.

** Major wreck involving 12 cars, causing an overturned car in the infield. Cars are now pitting in the fourth yellow in the race.
Update The overturned car is that of Michael Waltrip, he is ok and concious talking to officials while they try and get him out of the wreck.

* Nearing Halfway in the race the leaders are
1. Stewart 2. Biffle 3. Johnson 4. Dale Jr.

*** The top three have really seperated themselves from the rest of the field.
1. Stewart 2. Biffle (Who has risen from last at the start) and 3. Dale Jr.

** Leaders with 37 laps to go
1. Stweart 2. Dale Jr. 3. BGordon 4. Biffle 5. Wimmer

*** Buffle is giving a penalty for speeding into the pit for a stop and has lost any chance of winning with this penalty. He is now in 14th place.
Leaders: 1. Wimmer 2.Stewart. 3. Dale Jr.
Wimmer is ahead because he only took 2 tires in the pit when the others took 4. He is out in front by himself and the interval between him and the 2nd and 3rd cars is shrinking fast.

** Wimmer has been passed for the lead with 24 laps to go. Stewart and Jr. are back in front.

*** Fabulous move by Dale Jr. on the bottom of turn 3 to pass Tony Stewart even though Kurt Bush stayed on the back en of the 20 car trying to give him a push to hold on to the lead in front Earnhardt Jr.
17 lasp to go. Leaders 1. Dale Jr. 2. Stewart

** 10 laps to go Dale Jr. Still in the lead followed by Stewart then the lapped car of Kurt Bush and Wimmer in third place.

***White Flag is out and the Leaders are still 1. Dale Jr. 2. Stewart 3. Wimmer

*******Dale Earnhardt Junior Wins the Daytona 500 6 years to the day from his fathers first win at the great American Race.
Congrats to the Budweiser Number 8 Car!

Post Valentine's Day Poetry
02.14.04 (10:57 pm)   [edit]
Now the Valentine's Day is done and gone here on the east coast I figured I would share some poetry on anti-love.
I found this while repacking some stuff in my house for storage. I wrote it a few years ago after the girl I was planning to propose to cheated on me.
Let me know what you think, and remember I can never title anything so that is now your job.

[i]New thoughts of wickedness and revenge float through my head
They will never come to be because of all that exists now are thoughts of a love that is dead
All the lies now in fruition
I am so angry but all I can see is confusion
All the faces telling me the future
If I had only listened I may have missed this torture
You look at me dumbfounded and say, "I don't know"
So I leave in a blind rage not knowing where to go
Where do I turn next now that I have been tossed aside
Why is it that I feel so bad now after acting on this anger inside?
You and all those that read this just think I'm insane
But with your recent actions all I feel is pain
I still hold you dearly and I still love you with all my heart
Why is it after this time together we should part?
I don't understand this at all
So into my angry, bewildered psychosis I now fall[/i]

Funny how strife and anger seems to be such a great driving force for writing. So what do you think?

Hockey Talk (Responses to the Frenchie)
02.14.04 (9:56 pm)   [edit]
Ray will do nothing, but he will add depth if the Sabres sell off some talent at the deadline for picks or prospects.
Larionov is washed up IMO. He will remain where he is because I dont think even a team on the edge has much use for him anymore.

Doan is a great player. Keith Tkachuk asked Dave Wilson at the All Star game to put them on a line together just out of the blue because of how well they clicked in the Desert.

Corson has great talent, and could help a team from the deadline on I just would make sure it isnt a contract past that and the contract would be very heavily incentives laiden because of the downside possibilities. Knowing how much Larry Pleau like former goodies he may be a consideration for the Blues.

I wouldn't trade a franchise player based on one bad year, except in this year's case and depending how bad that season was. With the looming CBA God only knows how bad a big contract for a key player is going to be. The situation in St. Louis is the quintessential example of this. How much is St. Louis going to be hurt in the next CBA with a 60 million dollar payroll? And 4 guys making 8 million or more?

The problem with Blues management IMO as a fan is that they never do anything all the way, they are half ass and sit on the fence between rebuilding and buying. Even when big trades for Weight and Tkachuk were made there was no real goalie in net. Now that we have a goalie in net and Walt and Weight they don't sign Rucinsky and trade Stillman losing a good fifth of their offense last year. This has become a grave problem with the lack of blueline due to injury. The Blues have scored the fewest goals in the league since Jan. 1. and whereas they were winning 1 goal games early they are now losing those.

I personally being in Larry Pleau's seat would do the following:

1. Work a deal for Smyth or Brewer or both from Edmonton

2. Look into a deal involving Bondra, Lang, or Witt

3. Think about bringing up Sejna, Pohl, McClement for the last week of the season to either keep them up here as an extra attacker or send back down before the Playoffs (Just a week because if he plays so many games he has to clear waivers to be sent back down I believe)

4. Trade, waive, or cut the following: Mayers, Salvador, Ryan Johnson, Martins, Rycroft, Mellanby, Finley, Brent Johnson.
This may look like a long list but Mayers has not produced all year, Salvador looks asleep most of the time out there, Ryan Johnson does nothing on the 4th line at all, Martins is just too small and has no scoring touch (Missed 4 or 5 breakaways this year wide of the net), Rycroft has an upside maybe someone will bite but his 19 pts. on the 2nd and 3rd lines just isnt enough, Mellanby is old and deserves a shot with someone who can win it all which unless the other steps are undertaken I dont think includes the Blues, Finley is just too injured to play on a nightly basis, Breant Johnson is a headcase and sadly may never return in this organization after being LP's golden boy from day one he is at the bottom of the list even behind Sanford in Woosta(SP).

5. Hire a goalies coach full time for the Blues. Currently they only have a part time coach who splits time in the AHL. This I believe is a major part of the decline of BJ and the recent sloppy play of Osgood. With some specialized and more immediate attention perhaps problems with the goaltending could be fixed prior to the giant snow ball we see now. Osgood's save % has dropped from around .950 where he was top 5 in the league a quarter way through the season to .906 now. This has been during the time that the Blues has started to skid.

I think I covered everything. If anyone else out there wishes to talk some hockey feel free to let me know and of course feel free to add anything or tell me why I am wrong in the comments.

Cheers Mates!

What have Monks ever brought about that is better than their production of beer?
I love beer.
Fine call me a drunk, call me an alcoholic, You would be wrong but you can say it anyway.

Beer has so many possibilites, lager, ale, stout, yada yada yada.

Here some of my favs.
1. Guiness - Sorry I am Irish
2. Bass - Quite possibly the best thing to come out of th UK in centuries. ;-)
3. Beck's Dark - It is great but only in small quantities, you know, like most Germans. (JK)
4. Tsingtoa - The best non-electronic product to ever come out of Asia IMO.
5. Bud Light - Parents worked for AB and it was my first so I have some loyalty there.

So what are your favs? Or am I just a drunk?
And I am Putting this under politics because with all the mudslinging there will be a lot of drinking before the November campaign. That and because I wanna!

Cheers!

I have to agree with what Imus said this morning, "Kerry is dead if something comes out."

Stay tuned as I am sure there will be much more to come. The odd part about this is that it is being attributed to a person inside the Democratic party not the Republicans. I love good drama.

Take the quiz...
02.12.04 (9:43 pm)   [edit]
In a world of complicated politics it is important to see a full spectrum of political ideals instead of the standard left vs. right argument. That is where this quiz comes into play.

It rates Right to let the typical way, and then goes on to rank by Authoritarian vs. Libertarian on a Top to Bottom scale.

On the site after the quiz there is also a sample axis plane where you can check your "Political Compass" against that of major figures in the world.

What are my results you ask?
Well I am to the economic right 5.5
And to the Authoritarian side 2.97

Which not to surprisingly puts me almost directly in the same spot as Tony Blair and extrememly close to POTUS George W. Bush.

So take the quiz and see where you lie.

This is the reason...
02.09.04 (1:21 pm)   [edit]
For my soon to start hiatus. Hateful accusations with nothing but anger.
[i]"Oh yeah, and as I was reading through your "Nobel-Prize" winning screed (HA HA HA HA HA) you fuck-wit: you might want to brush-up on history something you know as little about as dumb-bunny Shrub the other fuck-wit:-- HITLER DID CLAIM TO FREE 22,140,000 POLES AND 3,000,000 ETHNIC GERMANS IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA AND MILLIONS OF OTHERS IN THE OTHER BALTIC STATES-- WHO HE SAID WANTED TO BE "FREE GERMANS" ... Of course, you're so ignorant that you'll wait until Shrub kills 6,000,000 Iraqis (and he is well on the way having massacred over 10,000 of 'em already) before you are able to draw any comparisons. You really should study a little history, buddy."[/i]
But wait there is more:
[i]"... are you out of a job? you seem to have alot of time on your hands to spout your neo-nazi, neo-fascist screed are regurgitated from Rush Limbaugh's mindless drivel, the neocon's WND & Fox News 'Joseph Goebbles' Channels ... You are a fool, a liar, and a cad and are either corrupt or stupid or both. The facts do not support your claims of wonderous results either for the Iraqi people (living in hell under Dubya's insane occupation based upon lies, deceptions and falsehoods) or for Americans (4 million homeless, 9-15 million unemployed, 45 million without health care, 25 million families living below the poverty line) Ah, but yes, you don't give a rat's ass about those in need, suffering, or in danger-- and yet you claim to be a "christian"? Uh-huh, yeah, right ... what a load of crap."[/i]

Why we must resort to lunacy to try and get our points across I dont know. My whole time here I tried to add to the civil discourse and yet I am assaulted repeatedly.
Hopefully during my absence Sam can return to sanity, I doubt it, but we can hope.

Time For A Break
02.09.04 (12:31 pm)   [edit]
It is time for me to step away from tblog for a few. I am not saying goodbye, but I am saying see you in a few. The reasons for this are many, the main one being the fact that I am becoming hateful and agry to my core just like the ones who assault me. I am tired of being accused in open forum of things that are 100% incorrect, I am tired of the lies and lunacy of some on this site, I am tired of getting angry when I stop by here.
This coupled with the fact that I am not being heard (This is evident in the fact that the Assaults and Anger displayed towards me continue even after it is refuted time and time again) I can live with not being agreed with, but not being heard kind of removes the whole point of this now doesnt it?
So I shall take a break and hopefully the leftist moonbats will stop ruining what could be a great forum for real and civil political discussion. Those of you who have offered support and are listening I wish you the best. To Sam, honestly you really arent worth it, as a matter of fact if you died tomorrow I wouldn't have an emotion either way. You are simply an insignifigant angry hateful propaganda merchant. I do wish you some happiness though, perhaps that could save you from your inner deamons.
Good Luck and GodSpeed!
Cheers Mates!

Another Leftist Attack Just Smoke and Mirrors
02.09.04 (9:03 am)   [edit]
Yet another accusation by the left to vilify POTUS George W. Bush crumbles into nothing more than unwarranted and undocumented attacks.
This issue has been around for at least 4 years now since during the 2000 campaign the Gore camp latched onto a report that there was missing time for GWB's service time in the National Gaurd. Well it turns out, just like with most of the slander from the left, when you find out the truth and the facts the attack crumbles into nothing.

http://billhobbs.com/hobbsonline/003235.html" title="http://billhobbs.com/hobbsonline/003235.html" target="_blank"http://billhobbs.com/hobbsonl...

Now feel free to criticize this as a "Bush Apology" or a "republican screed" all that will do is further prove my point that the left has nothing but bloody shirt waving and a visceral hatred to aid their already pitiful rhetoric.
Of course you could always just yell Halliburton or WMD at the top of your lungs.

Kerry's Record Invites Scrutiny
02.08.04 (7:23 pm)   [edit]
The Washington Post has begun the look into Senator Kerry's 19 year record in congress. This will surely not be the last of it given the long history of flip flopping and his rather weak positions on national defense. Hopefully more media outlets will start holding the annointed democrat accountable.

Dean Paid Trippi Company 7.2 MILLION
02.08.04 (11:01 am)   [edit]
This is out of the 31 million spent by the Dean campaign through the primaries and caucuses to date.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nationworld/bal- te.trippi08feb08" title="http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nationworld/bal- te.trippi08feb08" target="_blank"http://www.baltimoresun.com/n...,0,25744,print.story?coll=bal-nationworl d-headlines

Maybe this is why he replaced Trippi as campaign manager? Either way I think it is safe to say that we can stick a fork in Dean, cause he is done.

Transcript Of Meet The Press
02.08.04 (9:14 am)   [edit]
Okay so I overslept this morning (It was a great night though once I got out of the house) and thus I missed the Meet the Press interview with POTUS Gerge W. Bush.
However thankfully those great folks at MSNBC have gotten the transcript up and on their site. If you missed the actual interview here is a good substitute.

So by now we all know how Brazil is photographing US tourists in a retaliatory gesture against the US doing the same to those from Brazil entering America.
Well it seems that some US tourists are not taken this very well.

Genetics...
02.07.04 (10:22 pm)   [edit]
I just finished watching a documentary styled show on genetics and DNA. I did some research on one of the guys they interviewed during the show (Plugged his name into yahoo and skimmed some pages) and came across a troubling quandry.
[LINE]
He proposes that "stupidity" or intelligence in general is simple a genetic defect. He shows that "feeble mindedness" runs through family trees and even draws on evidence of how some of those feeble enough were sterilized in the begining of the 20th century.
[LINE]
The proposition made is that genetic coding be manipulated to aid in intelliegence and to improve future generations. In other words make it genetically impossible or superbly highly improbable that anyone who below a certain point could be born or created.
This is obviously a moral problem and one that was somewhat dealt with in WWII Germany when the Third Reich were trying to breed a pure Aryian race. However this is more so to prevent problems then it is to promote specificity.

[LINE]

Can eugenics where certain traits are attempted to be predeterimined be moral and just?

NHL ALL STAR Weekend...
02.07.04 (6:00 pm)   [edit]
Well it is finally here, the all star weekend in the National Hockey League. And for my St. Louis Blues it couldn't have come soon enough.

The Young Stars game has just finished with the West defeating the East 7-3.
Lupul from the Anaheim Ducks scored the hat trick
Sauve from the Colorado Avalanche was named the MVP after some really impressive saves.

Now comes the skills competition, with my favorite the hardest shot. It will be interesting to see who has it this year with Big Al "Chopper" McInnis out due to his eye injury.

Hopefully the regular all star game tomorrow can be as impressive as theYoung Stars game was. Great plays offensively of course but good goaltending as well.

***UPDATE***
Eastern All Stars win the skills competition 13 to 6
Luongo wins the goalie competition only giving up 1 goal.
The fastest shot in the hard shot contest was 102.2 mph by two of the Eastern Confrence All Stars.

What a meal...

And the crem de la crem a delicious raspberry tart and champagne for dessert. Oh My.

Ok go ahead call me a glutton.

Kidnap Victim Found Dead
02.06.04 (11:15 pm)   [edit]
The recent kidnap victim in Sarasota, Fl (About an Hour or so from my Home) has been found dead. By now I am sure many, if not all, have seen the video of the abduction. A witness came forward to aid police in their investigation saying that he was told by the suspect that he had kidnapped and killed the 11 year old victim.
The suspect since moving to Florida had been arrested on 13 different occasions and had recently violated his probation only to be set free again. So where does the blame fall? The parent of the abducted girl wants answers and I personally do not blame them. They are calling for Jeb Bush to investigate the way Joe Smith was able to remain free even though he had violated his probation just 5 WEEKS AGO. Even this single incident does not show how prevelent a felon Joe Smith was.
As FoxNews reports: "Smith has been arrested at least 13 times in Florida since 1993.

He served 17 months in prison in 2001 and 2002 for heroin possession and prescription drug fraud. Eight days after he got out, he was arrested for cocaine possession and placed on probation for three years. He also got probation for aggravated battery in 1993 and heroin charges in 1999. "

So why was he on the streets and why was this unfortunate tragedy unable to be avoided?
And what can we do in the future to protect the future potential victims?
These are all questions that deserve answers, and hopefully these answers will come soon and will result in swift action to stop future problems.

I will be updating this as more answers come available.

Moral Relativism
02.06.04 (9:08 pm)   [edit]
(Since the first hypothesis sparked so much discussion I figured that I would take a stab at capturing lightining in a bottle again)
Hypothesis #2 :
Moral relativism is a tool of the political left and has grown in the US. This is the source of the loss of our standards and values as a nation, such as the values of the family. The theory of moral relativism is flawed inherently and is essentially just a way for proponents to take the middle ground and avoid the slings and arrows that come with a firm position on an issue. The only way to true morality is through rationalism and logic.

Feel free to rail me and/or discuss in the comments section below.

Poll Shows Bush To Win VS. All Contenders
02.06.04 (5:00 pm)   [edit]
A recent foxnews poll of 900 regitered voters February 4 and 5 shows that, although the election may be closer than in polls done a month or so ago, Bush still holds an edge over all democratic contenders.

Kerry is bested by 4%
And both Dean and Clark are bested by 19%

The election is still months away and promises to be close, but with the lack of a Bush campaign to this point and sweep across the country of Democratic primaries where the supreme argument of choice is "Bad Bush" just how close it will be is still to be determined.

US Economy LEADS Worldwide Recovery
02.06.04 (4:50 pm)   [edit]
The US (even with the doom and gloom prognosticating of the left) is recovering and is leading the recovery for the rest of the world as well.
"[i]For the 30-nation membership of the OECD, the December leading indicator - a pointer of future economic activity - rose to 123.6 from 122.8 in November. The reading for the US was 133.3 (up from 131.7), the 12-nation euro currency zone struggled up to 123.8 (from 123.5), and Japan managed a weak increase of 0.2 to 102.3. Of the G7 economies, only Italy showed weaker development, its index slipping to 106.3 in December from 107.8 in November. [/i]"

Great Piece On Tenet's Speech
02.06.04 (11:20 am)   [edit]
So Tenet made his speech the other day at Georgetown University as to the quality of our national intelliegence. Many have taken this speech many different ways. Because of this I ask you to check outthe link below where the speech is deconstructed and looked at entirely. This is the only way to combat the misconrued and misunderstood words of Tenet. Just like Kay's speech it has given rise to a soundbite here and a soundbite there instead of a true look at the context of his words.

January Employment Figures
02.06.04 (10:59 am)   [edit]
Unemployment rates dropped to 5.6 % in January. This is the lowest rate since October 2001 and matched that of January 2002. This coupled with the addition of 112,000 jobs in the month of January means that the mark of "Jobless" recovery may be fading away. Some economists were expecting 150,000 new jobs. However, the expansion of jobs, the lowering of the unemployment rate, along with the increase in productivity are all signs of a recovery that is clearly turned the corner. And Labor Secretary Chao agrees. Saying the report Friday, "is good news for workers, and it's yet another sign that the economy has turned the corner and the nation's job market is getting stronger," said Labor Secretary Elaine Chao. "The economy has created jobs in each of the last five months, with hundreds of thousands of Americans finding new jobs."

So will this spell the end to the doom and gloom from the left? Probably not. But these numbers in addition to the fact that recent reports have shown an expanse of nearly 700,000 self-employed since 2001 go to prove that economy is a lot stronger and is a lot more stable and productive than many on the left would like us to believe.

Its The Media's Fault!
02.03.04 (10:31 pm)   [edit]
So says Wes Clark JR. His father's faultering campaign (He just won President of Oklahoma However) is being blamed not on the campaign itself or even those leading the campaign, but instead on the poor coverage of the media. What a shame. All this time I thought that the media reported on events when in fact it is really responsible for making the events it reports on happen.

Affirmative Action

I pose a hypothesis:

Affirmative avtion is an outdated and overtly racisit instatution. It does overtly more harm than good, and brands those who do not support it as racists even though they are in fact the ones looking for equality for all.

Groundhog Days...
02.02.04 (2:42 am)   [edit]
Today, February 2nd 2004, is groundhog day. At approximately 7:45 EST Punxsutawney Phill will be poking his head out of his little hole to determine for folklore enthusiasts how much more winter we have coming.
If the Groundhog retreats after seeing it shadow it is supposed to mean 6 more weeks of winter.
If he comes out and stays out it supposed to mean earlier spring and less winter.
Funny thing is that the first day of spring is officially March 21st. Which by my calendar is 7 weeks away. So regardless of whatthe Groundhog does we shall see 7 more weeks of winter, even if we do recieve a break on the weather part.

Happy Groundhog Day! Enjoy the festivities, but please do not feed the hog.

***UPDATE***
The Groundhog saw his shadow earlier today. This is suppoeed to mean 6 more weeks of winter for everyone. Fortunately I am in Central florida where it was nearly 80 degrees here today. Take that you dirty old groundhog!

For a Change of Pace...
02.02.04 (2:35 am)   [edit]
Seeing as how there has been a recent call by my President George W. Bush to increase the spending for the National Endowment for the Arts, I decided to take the pencil and paper try my hand at some poetry writing for the first time since high school. Who knows maybe someone will see it and I can join Yerian as being a nationally recognized and published poet. (To be honest I have already been published nationally on at least two occasions)
So here it is, my attempt at some writing that is more personal than political.

[i][b]Wishing I could go to sleep
I lay here and want to weep
For a soul long gone from this wicked place
I still remember the last tear rolled down my face
Questions still unanswered for fear of the truth
For I am still nothing more than an absent minded youth
I try to prove that it doesn't hurt me
But that is a reality that will never be
What do I have to do to end the pain?
Was her death sadly just in vain?
Wishing I could go to sleep and make it all go away
With my sanity I must now pay[/b][/i]

That went a lot quicker than I thought it would. Boy the writer's juices are really flowing. Must be all of it that was blocked and backed up earlier this week. Here is another:

[i][b]Sweating
Crying
Bleeding
Flying Past
Gored by theDevil's shaft
Life chewed him up and spit him out whole
Now gods ponder the future of his soul
Heaven, Hell, or in his grave shall he stay
All this happens while the demons play
Poking and prodding his lifeless corpse
Good or Evil he ponders which is worse
All questions answered in the hour of his death
Just in the span of a single breath
Answers to questions that perplex scholars
Come the way of a jester's hollars
This is it
Life is a cruel joke
Heaven and hell reduced to just mirrors and smoke
So in his grave he must now rest
Even though he is now at his best.[/b] [/i]

Tell me what you think. Even better give me some title suggestions. I can never come up with titles that are good.
Cheers all!

A Possible Balanced Budget Ammendment Resurface?
02.02.04 (2:07 am)   [edit]
Calls from all over the political landscape have marred GWB as an economic prolifergate. His conservative base is angry because of discretionary spending and deficits and his potential presidential opponents are looking to exploit his spending as exorbitant. It should be noted that most are citing Bush's spending as a problem all the while saying that there isnt enough in some areas.

(Education being one of these areas although Federal Spending for education has risen by nearly 60% of its original total) As a matter of fact other than raising taxes, (Repealing tax cuts is a raise in taxes plain and simple) they have not offered much in the way of an argument that would lead one to believe they are going to have any positive affect upon deficits and or spending in general.

This has left Bush with an exposed underbelly so to say on issues of spending, especially since both houses of congress are in republican control, even if by the narrowest of margins in the Senate. Either sucumbing to the pressure from his base or possibly trying to remove possible thorns from the campaign trail rose Bush has begun speaking about a possible law to in his words "assure that Congress observes spending discipline, now and in the future" This along with the fact that the deficit, even with the expanded costs from the Medicare bill, being lower than in any year of his presidency could prove to be an important reconnection with a sound spending policy. Bush went on to say: This simple step would mean that every additional dollar the Congress wants to spend in excess of spending limits must be matched by a dollar in spending cuts elsewhere."

Sounds like a great idea to me. I supported the idea when it was proposed by Newt as a possible Balanced Budget Ammendment and I support this "law" idea by Bush. Now if it can only become more than a tax payers pipedream. Given the wars that are about to erupt over the proposed budget in the coming weeks and months I don't see it becoming the key issue anytime soon.

Pakistani Official Speaks Out
02.02.04 (1:35 am)   [edit]
Aparently Pakistan was able to sell off Nuclear Weapons Technology to axis states such as Libya, Iran, and Crazy Kim in North Korea. This is said to have happened from late 80's (Bush 1) through the 90's (Clinton). All the while this was happening (along with other serious problems in the arena of potential US enemy powers) Presidential hopeful John Kerry was voting to strip away at the intelligence centers of this country and cut defense appropriations. These are as we now know, and he should have known then, the first and last walls between us and a 9/11 type attack. Sadly now the genie is out of the lamp so to speak and now the fear of proliferation throughout axis countries seems to be a fateful reality. I guess this stance should be expected from a man who thinks that the terrorist threat is being overblown and should be handled as a criminal threat instead of a decleration of war. Only problem is that the criminal avenue is how things were treated during the Clinton years already. And we saw the first WTC attack, the USS Cole attack, and then 9/11 shortly after GWB took office. Even the Islamo-Fascists themselves said they had declared war on the US. I may be wrong here but aren't areas of defense and intelligence vital in a war?

Kerry's votes on key defense and intelligence items during this time period:

1995: Proposed Bill Cutting $1.5 Billion From Intelligence Budget. Kerry
introduced a bill that would “reduce the Intelligence budget by $300 million in
each of fiscal years 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000.” There were no
cosponsors of Kerry’s bill, which never made it to the floor for a vote. (S.
1290, Introduced 9/29/95)

1995: Voted To Slash FBI Funding By $80 Million. (H.R. 2076, CQ Vote #480:
Adopted 49-41: R 9-40; D 40-1, 9/29/95, Kerry Voted Yea)

1994: Proposed Bill To Gut $1 Billion From Intelligence And Freeze Spending For
Two Major Intelligence Programs. Kerry proposed a bill cutting $1 billion from
the budgets of the National Foreign Intelligence Program and from Tactical
Intelligence, and freezing their budgets. The bill did not make it to a vote,
but the language was later submitted (and defeated – see below) as S. Amdt. 1452
to H.R. 3759. (S. 1826, Introduced 2/3/94)

1997: Kerry Questioned Growth Of Intelligence Community After Cold War. “Now
that that [Cold War] struggle is over, why is it that our vast intelligence
apparatus continues to grow even as Government resources for new and essential
priorities fall far short of what is necessary? …” (Senator John Kerry Agreeing
That Critic's Concerns Be Addressed, Congressional Record, 5/1/97, p. S3891)

When His Bill Stalled In Committee, Kerry Proposed $1 Billion Cut As
Amendment Instead. Kerry proposed cutting $1 billion from the National Foreign
Intelligence Program and Tactical Intelligence budgets, and freezing their

I simply focus on Kerry's voting record because:
A. He was in office during all of these events.
B. He is the Democratic front runner.
C. No One else on the running in the Democratic primaries has the extensive voting record the Ultra-Left Kerry does.

I Found an interesting slideshow on littlegreenfootballs.com. This is one of the best blogs that I have found in recent memory and I urge you to read it. I know I will add it to my favorites and will be making it daily reading.
The slideshow is in regards to the extent and the history of the molding of children in radical Islam. Just more evidence that this is a problem taht only one side wants to resolve, while the other continues with hatred in order to exploit it.

Super Bowl BOOB!
02.01.04 (9:17 pm)   [edit]
No I am not talking about Jon Kasay who pooched the kickoff out of bounds giving the Pats the ball on the 40 yard line with 68 seconds to go. I am talking about Janet Jackson's hoo-hoo being exposed during halftime entertainment when a piece of her costume was ripped off by co-performer Justin Timberlake.
Before the Super Bowl there were said to be "shocking moments" in the routine and that there had never been a performance like this before. I guess we know why?
However afterwards MTV as well as Timberlake said that this was a mistake, an accident.

"I am sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance of the Super Bowl," Timberlake said in a statement. "It was not intentional and is regrettable."

Feel free to check it out at Drudge if you missed it.
