Some supposedly even became a campaign contribution here at home. Representative Jim McDermott who headed the "Iraqi Dems" trip with other congressmen recieved 400,000 dolars as a campaign contribution from Shakir al Khafaji who recieved oil from the former dictator of Iraq. But wait there's more:
http://www.weeklystandard.com...
Just for the benifit of all who come to read this post McDermott is also the Representative who co-sponsered Charlie Rangles legislation to RE-INSTATE THE DRAFT. Straight from his own website.

Do you believe he is proud of this? And to think that so many leftists on were trying to say that GWB was trying to do this. Not surprisingly the problem lies much closer to home for them.

Self-Employed Could Skew Employment Figures
01.31.04 (9:27 pm) [edit]
Things probably aren't as bad as leading Dems like Daschle and Schumer would like you to believe. But then again how is this anything new? Outside of the doom and gloom being screamed from the mountain tops by the "Progressive" Party there are true facts. One of those facts is that the way unemployment is figured (A poll of 60,00 US households asking who is emplpyed looking for work etc...) Within the employment figure there is no recognition of the largest growing sector of employment. The Self-Employed. While the left typically tries to assault Bush for losing 2.3 million jobs during the (Clinton) recession between 2001 and 2003 there is an alternate trend going on during this period. This trend is that over 700,000 have become self employed AKA independent contractors in that time period.
I for one am surprised that the Democratic Party would try to use statistics to uphold partisan rhetoric, when in fact the statistics tell only half (If that Much) of the story.

That is what the BBC should stand for in the wake of recent events. After their charges Prime Minister Tony Blair of sexing up WMD claims were published the BBC has come under direct scrutiny through an investigation into these allegations. (These were similar allegations to those be ballied around by the Media at home and Leftist Propagandites on this very site about POTUS GWB) The investigation has cleared Tony Blair of any possible culpability and shown that there was no attempt to be dishonest in his claims. The BBC has had now 2 resignations over this and their lack of journalistic integrity. Hopefully people will begin to see how far the BBC has fallen from the once proud and world revered news organization it once was and realize the leftist rag it has now become.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/...,2933,109693,00.html
If only this would serve as a deterrent to those at home who make the same claims on a daily basis with nothing to support them other than a visceral hatred for a man that had the courage to do what was right.

Light Blogging To Continue
01.30.04 (11:56 am) [edit]
I have not had the time to pen the words for this site as of late, and this looks to continue for a little while longer. I hope to be able to add something of consequence by the end of the weekend, but until then there will be light blogging with links to some interesting stuff.
Think of it as the best of the blogsphere perhaps.
Still in the works: Hockey MidSeason Update, Horowitz Book Review, and A simple look at the PC lexicon. Like I said I will try to have additions of substance in the upcoming new week, until then check out some of the Blogs that are linked to one the left. Cheers!

Well At Least He Is Consistent...
01.27.04 (6:15 pm) [edit]
With 39% of precincts reporting in New Hampshire the results are as follows: 1. Sen. John F. Kerry 28,945 39% 2. Howard Dean 18,955 25% 3. Sen. John Edwards 9,373 13% 4. Gen. Wesley K. Clark 9,140 12% 5. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman 6,854 9% 6. Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich 1,085 1%
1% in Iowa and now 1% for New Hampshire. And all of this even after his proposal to get rid of NAFTA and WTO. What does it take to garner votes now a days?
*End Sarcasm*
My biggest dissapointment is that the Deaniacs didn't hoist Dr. Howard to 1st. I was really looking forward to a Dean led ticket. Rove would have had a field day with that one.
For any of you in New Hampshire stopping by this small corner of cyberspace, who did you vote for and why?

In Defense Of Reality
01.26.04 (3:43 am) [edit]
I recently made refrence to some economic items in another blog post.
"That Bush is responsible for an economic downturn that began before he was elected and that Clinton is responsible for an economic recovery that began before he was elected (here at last -- a kind of consistency!). "
I was then called out to support this claim in the comments by one of the more relevant posters here on tBlog (I say relevant because he is not part of the leftist visceral hatred vomit crowd that lines the political walkways here), jimmytherighteous. He has asked to show evidence of this. Now even though I meant the first only in a comedic way, which is why I gave no links, I took up this challenge. I promised an answer by the end of the week, however, due to a terrible affliction of insomnia (Too Much Mountain Dew Honestly) I found the nessacery information in one night's work.
The economy during the final 2 quarters leading up to the election in 1992 saw a growth in the GDP and a lowering of the national unemployment by nearly a whole percentage point. In the final quarter before the elction the GDP grew by an astounding 5.4 %. Meaning that and economic recovery from the post war recession had begun before Clinton was elected and far before he was ever inaugurated. The main reason this is disputed is due to great work by a man named Carville whose one-liner, "It's the economy, stupid." propelled Clinton's assault on the Bush economy and and the Bush plan for the recovery.
The oddest thing about this whole situation is in a matter of months after the belittling of Bush's economy and planning for recovery, the Clinton administrations ideas and initiatives for the "new economy and recovery from the Bush recession" were almost exactly the same as the Bush plan offered in 1990 which started the rise from recession 18 or so months later. The NRO reports, "At the end of the day, the legislative centerpiece of Clinton's early administration was almost exactly the same as that of George Bush from 1990. After all the anti-Bush rhetoric, despite all the later self-serving claims of attempting an establishment-threatening "progressive presidency" (Clinton courtier Sidney Blumenthal writes, ridiculously, of "the challenge to the old order"), Clinton in 1993 served up a huge helping of the status quo. Both the Bush plan from 1990 and the Clinton plan in 1993 featured modest increases in the top income-tax rate, more Medicare payroll taxes on top earners, an expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit for low-income workers, a gas-tax increase, and an increase in the alternative minimum tax." So let's look at our checklist. The recession was being overcome by Bush initiatives and were garnering steam in the economy by lowering the unemployment rate and by raising the GDP. The Clinton plans to save the economy (Which we can now see was already saved) was the same plan already introduced by his opponent in the 1992 election.
So let's now move on to the second part of our little piece here, and that is that the recession which is thought to be George Walker Bush's is actually William Jefferson Clinton's. The recession of which I write originally was dated by the NBER to have begun in March of 2001, 2 months after GWB took office. Even if it did start then how could a POTUS who has done virtually nothing in office (Because he was only there 8 weeks) have caused a recession to begin after the longest streak of economic growth in the history of the US? Fact is he couldn't. But even the date of when this recession started is now being reconsidered. According to a report as recently as 4 days ago the NBER is looking to re-date this recession start as early as November of 2000. One specific version of this report made by an ABC news affiliate states, "That revision, released last month, showed that the GDP, the country's total output of goods and services, shrank at an annual rate of 0.5 percent in the July-September quarter of 2000. Before the revisions, the GDP had remained positive through all of 2000 and turned negative for the first three quarters of 2001."
Some may see these and say that this was simply a result of a lame duck President and an economy weary of such a tightly contested election, but to do so you must still remove the name of GWB from this recession. You would also have to look past many facts that led to the economic stall in evidence here. Some the evidence can be seen very early and some is a little bit more discreet in it's effect. First let's simply look at the numbers that were out in the year of 2000.
1. Orders to American factories dropped a record 7.5 % in July of that year. 2. Major decline in transportation production is shown when net orders for the biggest rigs, the so-called Class 8s, totalled about 9,000 industrywide, less than half the level of a year ago. 3. Ford saw sales of cars and light trucks built in North America drop 4.2 % in August compared to a year before. 4.The unemployment rate rose to 4.1 % which was simply the begining of the trend not the trend itself.
All of these numbers alone may not lead to one to think bad tidings are on the horizon, but when looked at collectively and with other factors available they are the first telling signs of a decline in the economy. All of this happened while Clinton was in office most happening before the election. As a matter of fact the declines of the stock markets Nasdaaq, NYSE, and Nikkei all started before GWB was ever elected or sworn in. With the declines starting in 2000. Only now are the markets reaching highs that they experienced before this recession. What could have caused this? Perhaps the same styled tax cuts that did the exact same thing in the 80s. But I digress...
In an article published on Janruary 15th of 2001 (Days before Bush was to be inaugurated) Sheila Terry warned of the decline in the economy and the possible need for tax cuts to add stimulus and prevent it from getting worse. One quote in this article shows just how deep the problems of the economy being inherited by Bush went, ""Against the backdrop of remarkably sustained economic growth, the macroeconomy shows signs of slowing as the economic risks facing the new administration grow" warned the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) in a Dec. 15 report to Congress. Monetary-policy tightening by the Federal Reserve and an unexpected spike in oil prices have begun to moderate economic growth, the JEC report asserted."
This excerpt brings out a point of a spike in oil prices. This also can be explained and shown to have roots within the Clinton administration. In February 1999 then Energy Secretary, Bill Richardson, visited Saudi Arabia when the prices for oil were at their lowest, according to a newsmax article. He reportedly pressed Saudi Oil Minister Ali Naimi about the oversupply and extreme price volitility. After this visit Petroleum Intelligence Weekly, an industry newsletter, quoted Saudi officials as wanting "a price of $18 to $20 as soon as possible." So the initial trigger for the rising oil prices were from inside the Clinton White House. The article goes onto make some very interesting claims and give more support to the rise in OPEC oil prices and other "Clinton Legacies"
So let's look at that checklist again. First we showed that the economy was begining to turn at latest 2 quarters before Clinton was elected, unemployment dropped and the GDP were on the rise at an adjusted annual rate of 5.4%. With that behind us let us now recap the second initiative here, the Clinton recession. The market indicators from the rise (No Matter how small) in unemployment, the falling of the major stock markets (NYSE, NASDAQ, Nikkei), the drop in factory orders, and a spike in oil prices all prove that the statement that GWB inherited a Clinton recession holds water. To simplify things, the economy stopped growing in early 2000 if not earlier ,depending upon which indicators you hold as most telling, and the decline began in November of 2000 (When the third quarter results of the GDP showed a decline by .5%)
So Jimmy I hope I gave you what you were looking for. I hope you take the time to read and research the evidence here instead of dismissing this as a Yerian-esque mantra. My grandma always told me, "The proof is in the pudding." And I have drug up as much pudding as I could in my night owl showcase. In case any of you missed it: The message of the Dems in 04 is: "That Bush is responsible for an economic downturn that began before he was elected and that Clinton is responsible for an economic recovery that began before he was elected (here at last -- a kind of consistency!)." Which rang true when I posted it as an undocumented generalization and rings true now as the WWW comes out of the shadows with old and new info to support it.

Recently a movie director took on a 30 day challenge in order to create a movie. This challenge proved much more daunting than one would first suspect. He ate McDonald's everyday for a month, 3 meals a day. He also took it one step further, whenever the clerk asked if he would like to supersize his order he said yes. The film, SuperSize Me: A Film Of Epic Porportions, is being displayed at this year's Sundance film festival. Other info. and specifics can be found at the link below. The changes that his body underwent through this movie/experiment are truly astonishing.

It's Funny Cause it is true...
01.25.04 (7:48 pm) [edit]
The Dems. profess many things often in a nonsensical matter. This is the '04 revision to the thoughts of the Democratic Party:
That wars should be authorized, but never fought.
That the United Nations is the world's last, best hope, and every jot of its writ should always be respected, unless it inconveniences Saddam Hussein.
That nation-building is always a humanitarian and just cause, unless it is undertaken in Iraq.
That anyone who said Saddam had weapons of mass destruction prior to the war was lying, unless his or her name is Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Madeleine Albright, Bill Cohen, John Kerry or Joe Lieberman, or any person that ever served in the Clinton cabinet or as a Democratic senator.
That French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin is always right.
That President Bush isn't devoting enough resources to the reconstruction of Iraq, and that -- in light of his $87 billion aid proposal -- he is devoting far too many resources to the reconstruction of Iraq.
That George Bush maneuvering the United States into war is an act of manipulative genius, and also is very stupid.
That (fill in blank with latest conflict here) is another Vietnam.
That the U.S. military is overextended -- and should be smaller.
That unilateral U.S. diplomatic pressure is always wrong, unless it is brought to bear on Israel.
That it is absolutely necessary for the cause of clean government for candidates to abide by the limits set by the presidential public-financing system, unless they -- like Kerry and Howard Dean -- have enough money not to.
That big money corrupts politics, unless it is big money raised by California Gov. Gray Davis.
That punch-card ballots are a travesty of justice, unless they elect a Democrat (as they did in California just one year ago).
That Bush is bankrupting the federal government, but is a tightfisted ogre for countenancing only a $400 billion new prescription-drug benefit.
That Bush is fiscally profligate, but isn't spending enough on education, "first responders," health care or anything else not called "defense."
That the nation cannot afford the pending retirement of the baby boomers, but the baby boomers should get more benefits for their pending retirements.
That Bush is responsible for an economic downturn that began before he was elected and that Clinton is responsible for an economic recovery that began before he was elected (here at last -- a kind of consistency!).
That small-business owners are the heart of the economy unless they succeed, at which point they become "the rich."
That it is evil to be rich, unless you got that way by marrying Teresa Heinz.
That it is wrong to be a millionaire, unless you got that way by suing people.
That the sons of the upper-crust Northeastern elite are always and everywhere out-of-touch, unless they are named Howard Dean.
That it is unseemly to mix military matters with politics, but you should vote for FORMER GENERAL Wesley Clark, and salute when you do so.

An Iraqi's Story
01.25.04 (2:54 pm) [edit]
I came across a blog from inside the reconstruction of Iraq. This site is described, in the bloggers own words, as this: "My web site is about Iraq and the events inside Iraq after the war. Most of my subjects will concentrate on the reconstruction of Iraq, coalition forces and Iraqis as we rebuild my country. I am also going to talk about higher education in Iraq to present a clear view at how Iraqis think. "
http://roadofanation.blogspot...
The reconsturction is happening. There is a better tomorrow on the horizon for Iraq and all Iraqis. This is evident in the written words of those who are there even if it is not in the rhetoric involved in the infighting here at home. The world is better now in that region of the world, just as it was post WWII after the fall of Hitler and the United States reconstructions abroad. Houses are recieving running water, schools are being rebuilt, refurbished, and are seeing students again, and this country is free to make a name for itself through democracy for all instead of the tyranny of one. I for one am proud of the work done there just as my grandfather was when the reconstruction began in Germany, France, Japan, etc after millions in his time were allowed a vision of a great tomorrow.
All of these good tidings should not be overshadowed by the partisan spellbinding over WMD or a UN permission slip. It is clear that the means justified the ends. It is also clear the this administration was in the right just as previous ones were in the right to undertake similar but less courageous actions. The truth of the matter is despite the verbiage thrown about by people without any knowledge of the details many of the individuals in the position that POTUS George Walker Bush was in came to the same conclusion. That conclusion was that Iraq had been a rogue nation willingly violating international law and thumbing their noses and the civilized world. However, the debates here will continue, mainly because it is much easier to criticize a course of action then it is to decide what that course of action should be. The decision should have been made nearly a decade before it came to be, and yet some still want the debate to continue. This same course of events left 900,000 Rawandans dead before action was taken. With nearly half a million dead found in Iraqi mass graves were we to idly by and discuss while hundreds of thounsands more were piled in on top of each other?
These debates of ideal events and archetype circumstances for the liberation are possible only because sometime ago other countries were able to do for us what the coalition have done for the Iraqis. The US would not have made it this far if it were not for the help of the French during our own revolution. The French would be speaking German now if it were not for the sacrifices made on the beaches of Normandy. The Netherlands are now able to include themselves in a free world because of US and British led soldiers setting them free from the the third reich. In all of these situations there were deliberations on what should be the course of action. Through all the crossing of swords strong men were able to stand up and do what needed be done for the greater good to be seen through the smokey darkness of oppression. Such is the case today. Through the unyielding vigilance of today's men and women in the armed forces there is freedom, hope, and a future for millions.
In the words of Colin Powell, "Doing the right thing sometimes means pissing some people off." Thankfully George W. Bush, Rumsfeld, Rice, Powell, and the rest of this administration saw past the negatives of the left and adopted the strength of spirit found in previous generations. I am sure most of the Iraqi people would agree, and their success in the future is a great glimpse at how we may be able to reconnect with our past.

I have been looking for way to sum up the "doom and gloom" campaigning by many of the potential nominees in the Democratic party, but as to this point I have yet to find the words.
Thankfully a paid writer has done that for me.

This article is a great look into what was and what is in the world around us. It also dispells the myth that we are A) in a police state since 9/11 and B) the world is not safer because of the actions taken by the POTUS.
Have a read. It should prove to be very worth your time.

The Truth Of What Happened 31 Years Ago.
01.24.04 (1:50 pm) [edit]
Many, including Democratic Presidential Candidates, have eluded to the false statement that Bush is/was a deserter in regards to his time in the National Gaurd. These people are quick to jump to conclusions without knowing anything of the facts, and most are simply using this as another part of their partisan assault on POTUS.
This started during the 2000 election when the Globe reported that they had found no record for a year of GWB's service in the National Guard. It took on new life as partisan groups took to the net (AWOLBUSH.com) and propagated this myth. And while these groups get a free ride and the left continues it attacks those who report on the lack of evidence have been tagged as part of a "right wing conspiracy" or pushing a "republican agenda". The latter was the case when Clark displayed his ineptitude when asked about endorser Michael Moore's comment on this matter by Brit Hume at the debate in New Hampshire. Since Brit Hume works for Fox news it is an easy copout (LIke Hillary's Right Wing Conspiracy farce) to say he is simply pushing the rightwing agenda. It is much more difficult, but much more intelligent however, to look at the facts of the case and to none partisan objective accounts of the times.
This is why after reading the recent post by tblogs local conspiracy theorist I went hunting. What I have found amounts to 2 things, neither of which support the implications by the left. 1. The visceral hatred by the left of Bush is the only thing continuing to give this story legs. The only reports on this are from partisan websites without any evedence of the events in question. This is obvious when you look at the fact that the Bush issue has been covered much less than Clinton's possible desertion. The Clinton escapade has had much more coverage due to the fact of more evidence abounding to support the claims. 2. The objective reports on the issue (Such as the one I will link you to at the end of this) have shown that while Bush may have had an easy go while in the Guard, he served all his time required before recieving an honorable discharge. As a matter of fact Bush was rated by one of his superiors as being in the top 5% of all pilots until the Army discontinued the use of GWB plane, the F102. This change in planes with 8 months left on his required time and his transfer to Alabama to work on the failed campaign of Winton Blount are the main reasons for the easy ride given to Bush in the last year or so of his time.
Feel free to disagree with me, I expect that. Feel free to call me part of the "right wing" machine, that is to expected as well. But please stop with the hatred of a man and the assaults on his record and character when they are unfounded and untrue.

I am still to caught up in work and school and visitors to write anything sybstantial, but I did have a few minutes to spend here at the computer and I would be remissed if I did not bring some clarity to Mr. Edwards who is running for the POTUS.
Last night in the Dem. Debate in New Hampshire Edwards was asked about the defense of marriage act. This act has to do with the definition of marriage for the purposes of federal law. It was passed by congress and signed by the President in 1996. That president was not George W. Bush, whom most seem to think is the one who brought this into the public debate, it was William Jefferson Clinton who signed this act. It defines marriage as a union between 1 man and 1 woman. It goes on to define spouse as one of the opposite sex involved in said union with another. This act was meant to limit state determinations in regards to same sex marriage. Meaning if Missouri says its ok then they cant force Illinois to recognize it. However, in recent years Judges have construed this and the Federal Interstate Commerce Clause to attempt to cause all states to recognize these civil unions even if only one state is to pass a law making them ok. Which is against the purpose law and the efforts of those who passed it, including Bill Clinton.
When asked about this Act last night Edwards huffed and puffed and blew the wrong answer all over the place. His statement, a statement of a trial lawyer who should know better even if only because his advisors told him so, is yet just one more drop in the bucket of revisionist hitory and an unwillingness to believe that anything with possible negative consequences for some constituents was done before GWB was inaugurated. This gaffe will more than likely make no difference and will IMO not even be realized by those not interested in the red and blue state politics of the times.
I bring this up not only because Edwards looked like yet another talker who is really saying nothing but rhetoric and half truths. The other purpose of this is the fact people need to see and understand that this is not George W. Bush's crusade or need for a campaign year agenda. I am sure that if he could he would choose plenty of other topics for campaigning than Gay Marriage. The fact of it is that George W. Bush is simply looking to uphold the will of the people, the congress, and the POTUS at the time Bill Clinton who all had a part in the adoption of this act. Only the usurping of this will is leading to this topic becoming a possible ammendmant issue. Only the activist courts are causing the waters to be muddied when the people had made them crystal clear.
As to those of you who do not believe there is an activist court system in the US I offer you some information. The first Supreme Court ruling of constitutionality was in 1803. Meaning that there were no laws or rulings that were deemed unconstitutional in approximately 27 years since the adoption of the document. (Approximately cause of when the states adopted, etc etc). Fast forward, 1857 to 1900 21 different acts passed by Congress were deemed to unconstitutional and thus overturned. From 1900 to 200 however there were 129 acts of congress overturned. This can be explained away by those unwilling to face the facts presented here. One way is to blame it on the lawmakers. But have the writers and those voting for these acts really doing that much worse of a job than those who came before them? To believe this is to believe that this country is sliding backwards into an abyss of incompetence. The second explaination I have heard for this is that there are many more acts passed by Congress today and thus more are likely to be unconstitytional. To this I answer similarly to the first. Congress is not in fact passing many more acts as to contribute to the exponential growth of overturns. Also this would mean that more acts are brought before the SCOTUS for debate of their constitutionality. This to is untrue. So are we now starting to see that the courts are taking a "progressive" stance on what the constitution is meaning and what the spirits in the laws passed today are.
Bringing us back to where we began. The act that was passed by congress and signed by a Democratic POTUS is being underminded by the courts. So far it has only been the state courts taking this act to the woodshed, but how long till it gets to Kennedy and Scalia and Thomas et al.? Should 9 people be able to change the actions of 535 congressmen and women 1 POTUS and the population of the US that voted all of them into office? I dont believe they should, but they do. The only way to circumvent this and avoid the activism of the courts is through an ammendmant to the constitution. Which is what POTUS GWB tagged as an option. I for one was surprised that Bush brought this up, and even more surprised that he would bring out the idea of making it an ammendmant. This shows me that he is not going to play it safe and hope for the best. No, he will stand up for the people of the US, their desires, and beliefs.

Just wanted to type a little memo to all out there that may be dropping by. With the first round of this semester's tests coming up at the end of the week and guests coming in town this weekend I have hardly anytime to write on here. However I am working on some stuff in regards to Gephardt's retirement, the State of the Union, New Hampshire, and even the Hockey Mid Season. Hope to get it all up as soon as is possible. Here's to a good State of the Union Address and a focus back on what is and off of the clamoring wanna be's involved the democratic primaries. Cheers! And Good Tidings!

Their Dirty Little Secret....
01.19.04 (6:10 pm) [edit]
All this time I thought the left propaganda mills just randomly spouted whatever they read in the tea leaves and altered it to concern Bush as to muddy the waters with character assasinations and conspiracy theories. On the contrary I think I have discovered the source of all of the lunacy that is blabbered about by leading Democrats.

"George W. Bush gave Iraq reconstruction contracts to his friends so that The Jews, white men, and the Christian Coalition could conquer Iraqis." Maybe I should email that to Winston he may want to use it as his next blog. It doesnt look that much different than the regular tripe he has on there.

NFL Playoffs Part III
01.19.04 (3:19 pm) [edit]
It looks as though my skills at prognostication are dwindling. In last week's NFC and AFC championships I went with one favorite and one underdog. I went with one home team and one road team. Sadly the picks I made were completely wrong. I picked Philly and Indy and both these teams lost. Indy was accosted in the passing games with no calls on interference and defensive holding and Philly ran into a tough D which was made even tougher when McNabb was sent out the game with injury caused by a late hit. So the teams are set for Super Bowl 38 in Houston. In 13 days New England and Carolina will meet for the chance at a ring. I for one am surprised that either team made it this far on D alone but that the saying right, "Defense wins championships." I will go ahead and make a pick for the Super Bowl just to try and turn the tide in my fortunes. I also have to in a hope that I can better my record of picks so far which stands at 1-5. Here are the keys to this game as I see them: 1. Kickers there will not be a whole lot of scoring so the kickers (Punters and FG Kickers) will need to be their best. Advantage Viniterri and New England. 2. Running Game will be needed to give the D's some rest. This will be a long tough and hard hitting game and the defenses will need time to rest, regroup, and alter game plans from drive to drive. The running games will give the offenses time of possesion to do this. Advantage Carolina - Better defensive front and better backs in Davis and Foster. 3. Quarterbacks. With both teams having good to great defenses out there the quarterbacks will need to limit the mistakes and be a true field general out there. Advantage New England and Tom Brady.
And my pick? Carolina of course. I cant go against an underdog who has proven me wrong the past two weeks, and there is no way I can pick a New England team that defeated my St. Louis Rams a couple of years ago in the Super Bowl. So in what could turn out to be the lowest scoring Super Bowl in history the Cats VS. The Pats will see the Carolina Panthers come out victorious. Remember you heard it here first.

Today is the Day.
01.19.04 (2:37 pm) [edit]
The day so many have been waiting for. A day that will go down in history as one of ridicualous speculation. What is today you ask? Why it is the day of the Democratic caucus in Iowa. The polls for the caucus in Iowa today have a four way statistical tie between Dean, Gephardt, Kerry, and Edwards. It will be interesting to see how true the polls hold true. However, the Iowa caucus had never been the breeding ground for candidates that some may think. For instance Clinton finished third in the caucuses with only 4.9% support in his election year, and even whacko candidates such as Pat Robertson have finished higher. (He finished second) So what exactly will tonight's caucus tell us? Probably not a whole lot but hopefully (For Democrats) it will be a point of attrition for the race to the nomination. Most speculators in the news have said that if Gephardt fails to recieve a large portion of the support in Iowa he may drop out, and with limited success for the campaigns of Kusinech and Sharpton they too may be dropping out after the caucus. What this will mean for the Democrats is less confusion and less in fighting over the nomination. What it will mean for the incumbant is many more assaults to his character and his job performance. This will though mean nothing to the hopefuls that finish 1,2,3 in the caucus because they will all still have a shot at the nomination if history holds true, and only the New Hampshire primary and Super Tuesday will give a clear answer as to who will challenge President Bush in the elction. Sadly that means more news coverage of wanna-be's and never-will-be's until the DNC still a while away. My Predictions for the Caucus On a Cold Day in Iowa: 1. Kerry 2. Gephardt 3. Dean 4. Edwards But no one will be a decisive winner thus causing all to remain in the race through New Hampshire. What this means for you and me is endless coverage of Bush Bashing and more squabbling amongst the group of Democratic hopefuls.

Presidential Candidate Info.
01.16.04 (10:41 pm) [edit]
For those fo you who have not quite made up your minds as to whom you are going to vote for the upcoming election I have a website you may want to check out. Although it does not have all the answers to all the questions, it does have quite a few answers to most of the questions. Everything from who funds them and how much to how they have voted in the senate or HOR in the past.
http://www.vote-smart.org
Another interesting thing it has there is a listing of every declared and potential candidate for the POTUS. This list is quite a bit longer than those subscribing just to cable news would ever have guessed. There are almost 200 candidates and potential candidates (Potential are very few mainly almost were candidates like Hillary or will be soon candidates like Nader)

I wonder when the caucas is for the "National Barking Spider Resurgance Party" are? I for will be waiting to see who gets their nod at the NBSR National Convention.

I found something
01.16.04 (10:27 pm) [edit]
I recently was clearing out some HDD space and cleaning up some files on my home pc. Whiloe doing this I found a file which I had saved of random war related quotes. Take a read: "One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998.
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." - President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998.
"Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." - Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998.
"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983." - Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998
"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." - Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others Oct. 9, 1998.
"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." - Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998.
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies." - Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999.
"There is no doubt that . Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies." - Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, Dec, 5, 2001.
"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them." - Sen. Carl Levin (d, MI), Sept. 19, 2002.
"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002.
"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002.
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seing and developing weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002.
"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..." - Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002.
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force — if necessary — to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002.
"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years . We also should remember we have alway s underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Jay Rockerfeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002,
"He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do." - Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002.
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." - Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002
"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction. "[W]ithout question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation. And now he has continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real ... - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 Since so many on this site like to say Bush is a liar and went to war for political gains I pose a question, are all of these people lying and looking for political gains? Maybe Bush brainwashed them all and this is just a giant conspiracy.

Thank Goodness For Recess Appointments
01.16.04 (10:14 pm) [edit]
Because without them I am afraid in this all too partisan world no one would ever be appointed to a judgeship ever again. http://www.foxnews.com/story/...,2933,108685,00.html http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/0...
Now all we have to do is endure the petty bickering and name calling by a minority of Dems. try to bring down this man. Previous attempts at this have left him labeled a racist and anti-civil rights. Both which are unfounded in my humble opinion but aparently stem from one case involving cross burning.
Lets just hope that the minority (Ted Kennedy and Schumer The majosity of bipartisand support his appointment) can find better use of their time than more filibustering when congress resumes from recess.

Fed Sees Steady Rates, Pickup in Jobs
01.15.04 (8:39 pm) [edit]
U.S. employment will continue to improve gradually, but it will be some time before official interest rates need to start moving higher, senior Federal Reserve officials said on Thursday.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/n...
In additional news from the Federal Reserve Alan Greenspan has come out against O'Neill's comment about tax cuts. Greenspan, the authority on fiscal policy in the US, has served as the chairman of the federal reserve since August of 1987. While O'Neil, the dismissed Tres. Sec. said that the tax cuts were "irresponsible" while Greenspan, a long time aquaintance of O'Neill's, is quoted as saying, "It's been rare over the many years of our friendship that Paul and I have a different recollection of events, but in this case we do"
He goes on to state, "In to day's context, where tax reduction appears required in any event over the next several years to assist in forestalling the accumulation of private assets, starting that process sooner rather than later likely would help smooth the transition to longer-term fiscal balance" So who are we to trust on this issue? My vote goes to Greenspan who has held his position through both Republican and Democratic White Houses and has served for nearly two decades as the head of the Fed, whereas O'Naill was in a sense fired from his position in the Adminsitration by the same one who A. nominated him and B. the same adminstration he is now blasting.

Clark Gains Endorsement From Anti-War College Dropout
01.15.04 (8:25 pm) [edit]
http://story.news.yahoo.com/n... Micheal Moore has come out to endorse Wes Clark for POTUS. He did this through a letter to Clark and an email to the registered fans of "Bowling for Columbine". So now every major candidate has recieved some endorsement of notice. From Al Gore's endorsement of Dean to Willie Nelson's endorsement of Kusinich they are everywhere for everyone. Even former potential candidate turned drop out Mosley-Braun has endorsed a wanna be nominee. (She endorsed Dean by the way)
The following is my op/ed of the endorsements (Which is only fitting on my blog) Read at your own risk:
The endorsements for every candidate in the pack (Other than the laughable Sharpton) just further proves to me that the Democratic party is a party divded with no care to its own principles or ideology. The only care out there for the Dems right now is the ousting of Bush. Not that its a bad thing necasserily, but IMO when it takes on this I dont care who it is as long as it is not Bush attitude it is obvious that the party has lost focus on its own identity. This is the most evident by this endorsement Michael Snore did not endorse him because he values his stance on any issue (Moore is a lifetime NRA member Clark is anti 2nd ammendment Moore is anti war Clark testified before congress for the war as well as to the fact that Iraq had WMD capabilities and a link to Al-Queda Moore is against the big business side of politics Clark has served as a lobbyist since being dismissed from NATO etc etc...) he endorsed him because he thought he could beat Bush. The funniest thing about all of this is the statement by Dean which I believe to be true that Clark is a republican in a Democratic Parties clothing. Quoting Truman Dean said that when you run a republican against a republican a republican always wins. If ony the Dem would take a lesson from true Democratic leaders and icons like Zell Miller and Ed Koch (I say icons because they are lifetime Dems with a history of true service for their party) they might have a chance at accomplishing what Moore wants, a victory in the November election. Without any type of message other than Bush bad me good they dont have a chance regardless of the candidate IMO.

Gore to Step In It, At Moveon.Org's Request No Less
01.14.04 (6:58 pm) [edit]
Al Gore is scheduled to make a "Global Warming" speech and the behest of Moveon.org and Environment2004. He is scheduled to do this ironically on what is forecasted to be the coldest day in the North East in the last half century. Also he looking to expose Bush, not surprisingly given MoveOn.org's lack of objectivity or even truthfulness, on this issue. Which leads me to to question is Global Warming a new problem brought on by Bush's less than 4 years in office? Well if you look to actual scientists and real data on the issue the idea that Global Warming is even a problem at all is at the most questionable, at the least nonexistant. http://www.globalwarming.org/...
This is clear when one looks at a petition recently signed by thousands of climatologists, meteorologists, and scientists in general. http://www.oism.org/pproject/... Some of the evidence out there is what lead POTUS Bush to reject the Kyoto accord. As a matter of fact 15.000 or so scientists urged the rejection of the Kyoto accord. http://www.sitewave.net/news/...
And yet Gore against the wishes of closest advisors is pushing ahead to try and defy the experts and proclaim himself the expert in spite of it all. http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/0...
At least he isnt claiming credit for the idea of global warming, that would just be silly. I mean how would he have found time to do it while he was inventing the internet? http://dir.salon.com/tech/col...

Another Democratic Endorsement For Bush In 2004 Election
01.13.04 (8:21 pm) [edit]
On the heels of the endorsement by Former Dem. Mayor of New York Ed Koch Bush has gained another endorsement from a prominent Dem. This time its Zell Miller doing the endorsing of Bush in his hopes to recapture the White House this year. Not Only has Zell endorsed Bush, but he has also aligned himself with Bush to campaign for him. With Miller strong ties to the south and the gaffes of potential Dem. candidates towards the south could prove to be a huge boost. Miller will serve as a top surrogate for the president this year and help spread the word about the president's leadership according to campaign spokesman Stanzel. The backstory to all of this is the dismissal of these action by DNC. Zell who has been a Dem. since birth as he has pointed out in his book A Party No More. He also however has witnessed the highjacking of his beloved party by the radical left and has had the courage take the mindset of country first party second. To reward him for this and his years of service the DNC is ok with simply telling him 'Don't let the door hit ya on the way out' Funny how those who have fallen with the party have no idea how far the have dropped. I only hope that the Lieberman's, Miller's, Koch's, and those like them have enough will power to weather the storm and bring the party back from the partisan sniping and into a future where what's best for this country is the prime concern.

Much O'Neill About Nothing
01.13.04 (1:47 pm) [edit]
Funny but while the POTUS was coming under attack from the left and many on this blog site over the O'Neill scuffle I was pondering how a Tres. Sec. would have A. Gotten the Documents he says he he took, B. The motivations behind what he was saying, and C. What was his credibility on the issue at hand. Well it turns out that today I was happily rewarded with real insight into this situation by none other than O'Neill himself who is quoted as saying "If I could take it back I would." In an interview written up by the Washington AP O'Neill denies his own charges made of the Bush administration and Bush himself. While doing all of this he was asked of the pending investigation of what documents he allegedly took when he was dismissed as Tres. Sec. and his response was to the effect that he was surprised that they didnt go to the chief legal counsel instead of the inspector general. Also says that if this situation had happened under his watch as Sec. he TOO would have launched an investigation.
O'Neill was also asked for whom he would be voting for in the November election. And surprisingly it is "probably" the same man that he dismissed as a "blind man in a roomful of deaf people" stating I don't see anyone who is better prepared or more capable,"
Does that make the 9 dwarves awaiting th eIowa caucas deaf, dumb, and blind or does it siply point out that his original words (as I have said from the begining) were spiteful and simply those of a spurned employee trying to hype a book.
Feel free to check out the interview for yourself. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040113/D802 27P02.html" title="http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040113/D802 27P02.html" target="_blank"http://apnews.myway.com/artic...
As the title say this has all becoming much O'Neill about nothing, but I bet he sells some books and doesnt that make it all worth it?

Maybe ONeill Was Looking At The Wrong Teams Playbook
01.12.04 (11:39 pm) [edit]
By now everyone has heard read and been shouted at over what ONeill may or may not have witness heard or documented. One such item was that of a plan to oust Sadam and a plan for a Post-Sadam Iraq. Well it appears that Israel beat POTUS GWB to that plan by at least 10 years EVEN IF ONeill is correct in his assertions and not just a spurned employee trying to sell a book. While the US talked Israel out of an immediate response when Sadam launched approximately 40 scuds into their country killing 13, the Israelis were looking towards a 'revenge is a dish best served cold' idea for dealing with the dictator. | Bush Gains Endorsement For Re-Election From Democrat |
01.12.04 (7:49 pm) [edit]
" The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function. One should, for example, be able to see that things are hopeless and yet be determined to make them otherwise."
This is a quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald and IMO sums up very well the recent endorsement for George W. Bush by former Democrat Mayor Ed Koch.
[LINE]
He is able to look past party lines and disagreements over the POTUS domestic policy and see that the POTUS and his foriegn policy decisions have been the right moves for the United States to undertake. For instance: "It is not only in Afghanistan and Iraq that President Bush has risen to meet challenges presented by our increasingly dangerous world. When the president labeled Iraq, Iran and North Korea an "axis of evil," many commentators mocked him. When he threatened Syria, Iran and Libya with serious consequences if they continued to support terrorist groups, there were those who denounced him for being too bellicose. Now, however, it appears that the president's hard line has begun to pay off. Recently, Libya agreed to dismantle its weapons of mass destruction programs and allow in international inspectors. There are even indications that Iran and possibly North Korea may permit international inspection of their nuclear programs."
[LINE]
He even goes as far as to show the same sentiment about potential candidates as myself and most right-wing conservatives I know. He states: "The Democrat now leading in the race, former governor Howard Dean, is a disgrace. His willingness to publicly entertain the slander that President Bush had advance warning of the September 11 attacks and his statement that America is no safer as a result of the capture of Saddam Hussein should have been sufficient to end his candidacy. But the radicals who dominate the primaries love the red meat that is thrown to them, even when it comes from a mad cow."
[LINE]
Perhaps there is hope for the Democratic party yet. All they would have to do is listen to lifetime Dems like Koch and stop pandering to ultra left radicals. I just hope of course that it happens after the election in November if it has to happen at all.

To post today. Too busy with classes starting and all. Just enough time to try and scour the tblog arena and see what the propaganda mills are churning out today. Maybe I can save them the trouble, Bush lied, Haliburton, No WMD, Bush Lied, Haliburton, Haliburton, Kill ONeil, did I mention Haliburton? Until next time. Good Night.

Very Good Post About The Discovery in Iraq
01.11.04 (10:12 pm) [edit]
I already posted on this so this may be redundant (I am pretty sure everyone else has seen something about it somewhere) but I wanted to take the time to link to Dean's World to what I think is a very well articulated post on the discovery and what it means to some and what it will never mean to others. http://www.deanesmay.com/arch... Check it out. And be sure to leave your comments.

Not True unfortunately, cause it would prove him to be the knee jerk reactionary bigot I believe he is, but hillarious none the less. http://www.imao.us/archives/0...

NFL Playoffs Continued
01.11.04 (5:31 pm) [edit]
Its a good thing that I kept my money in my wallet and not where my mouth was. Because with Philly winning in OT just a matter minutes ago I went a dismal 1-3 this weekend in regards to the picks. Two of the three that I didnt get right however (The Green Bay and St. Louis Picks) went to OT and were very close to ending in another way. So with this poor weekend of picks now over lets look ahead to next week. Carolina @ Philly - Philly wins handily and finally gets over the hump and gets to the Super Bowl for the first time in 3 consecutive tries in the NFC Championship Game. Indianapolis @ New England - What a great match up this will be. A Bellichek D against a team that has yet to punt in the playoffs. I dont know if Peyton Manning can keep up his near perfect play but I do think that Indy comes out on top in this one. So there ya have it. A Phill and Indy superbowl. We will have to wait till Sunday to see if I am right or if my bad luck at picking winners continues.

Dean Wants to be POTUS, Vermont City Wants to join New Hampshire
01.11.04 (3:50 pm) [edit]
While the former Gov. of Vermont is on the campaign trail proclaiming the desire to end the middle class tax cuts, even though he has said there was no real tax cut for the middle class, a city in his little piece of over taxed Utopia wants to secede into New Hampshire.
Makes me wonder how many of will want to secede if this man is ever elected.

Chemical Weapons Found In Iraq.
01.11.04 (9:25 am) [edit]
Danish and Icelandic troops have found mortars containing chemical agents in Iraq. While I understand that they have only Identified 36 mortar shells so far with these chemical agents, one has to believe that this is the tip of the iceberg. Wonder if this will cause Presidential Candidate Howard "The Duck" Dean to revise his statement that we are no safer than we were before the war. | Bang! I got You! You're Dead! |
01.10.04 (12:46 am) [edit]
According to a columnist I saw on MSNBC's "Scarborough Country" the Armed Forces are running out of bullets. These ammo deficits are requiring our training soldiers to train the old schoolyard cowboy and indian way. Bang! You're Dead!

NFL Playoffs
01.09.04 (11:25 pm) [edit]
Well it's officially Saturday here which means I am only hours away from watching my St. Louis Rams play againstthe Carolina Panthers to see who goes to the NFC Championship Game. The Rams are 7.5 point favorites to win at home where they are 8-0 this year and undefeated in their last 15. Carolina is coming off a pretty good routing of the Dallas Cowboys last week, that game however was played in Carolina and against a Dallas team that is far from the offensive Juggernaut that St. Louis is. Here are my weekend Playoff Picks: Indy @ KC - Indy in a Shootout Packers @ Philly - Packers in OT as Favre's Gaurdian Angel helps out again Titans @ New England - Titans on a frozen field shut down Brady and the Pats Panthers @ St. Louis - Rams in a blowout (I know I am biased but I feel very confident in this one Especially with the week off)
Thats 3 road teams and 1 home team. History says I will be wrong the home team who has gotten the bye the week before wins on average 83% of the time.
Anyone here care to disagree with me?

When is a disability not a disability?
01.09.04 (10:31 pm) [edit]
This is the question that popped into my head when I saw an article in the online version of my hometown paper. (stltoday.com )How far must accomadations go so that discrimination is no longer suspected? In this case I don't honestly know what to think for lack of a true definition of disability according to the eyes of the legislation. But I can only wonder what is next. Possibly a a blind man suing NBC for not making their programming watchable and therefore discriminating against him? Where does common sense outweigh the need to protect the few truly disabled. Here is the article that started me on all this.

First of Many
01.09.04 (10:26 pm) [edit]
I hope this is the first of many posts to be coming from my blog here. First I want to explain the title here. It is in no means an endorsment of drug use or an explaination of my own personal habits. The title is a simple retort that I seem to use quite often when faced with irrational behavior or idiocy in general. Within this site I hope to bring out lively discussion about everything from politics and philosophy to pop culture and sports. I have started here because of the many interesting discussions I have found on a few blogs elsewhere in cyberspace. I have tried to include them in my little venture here by adding their sites in the links section. Will all of this exposed I guess I should say a little about myself so hopefully you know a little background on where my rants and babbling are coming from. First of all I am extremely blunt and a very poor typist. (Please no grammer police) I bring up the blunt part simply because I cherish honesty and hate political correctness. I hope that this site gives all who visit a forum to openly discuss any and every topic. Here is a little bit more about me: Politics - Right Wing - The only thing found in the middle of the road are moderates and road kill. Education - Some College Currently attending the University of Central Florida majoring in BioChem and Mathematics Family - Two younger Brothers Hobbies - Debate, Sports (Participating and viewing), learning, history, technology Anything else that someone may want to know ask I will do my best to answer or ignore.
Personal thanks to Dean, Rose, Ara and all posters on their sites who gave me the curiousity to start this.
