All is not well in Muddville...

Because Rolen, Edmonds, and Sanders struck out and didn't HIT THE G-D BALL!!!!
Well I thought there would be a comeback, I thought the bats would come alive, I thought wrong and once again we as Cards fans were let down. The thing of it is I am almost happy the Sox won.
Don't get me wrong I am peeesseed that they beat my Cardinals, but kudos to the Sox they got it done when it counted most and my Cards, well, they folded like a cheap tent. Of course I wonder what the Cards could have done with say double the payroll. Se' la Vi, right?
105 Regular Season Wins 3 NLDS Wins 4 NLCS Wins 0 World Series Wins. My world for 4 more victories.

A Little Baseball Talk Amongst Friends...
10.26.04 (7:40 am) [edit]
A blogging buddy of mine (Who you can read here Update your blogrolls if you need to he did recently move) and I had a discussion about the World Series last night that I wanted to share. You see he is a Boston Red Sox fan, and I am a St. Louis Cardinals fan. We need not bicker about the vast history of these teams, although I would like to repeat 1918 ad nauseam lol, we simply need to focus on the present. Game three of the 2004 World Series. Now sadly his BoSox have a 2 games to 0 lead but the series has shifted back to Busch stadium in the greatest baseball city in the US for games 3 thru 5. So worry not the Cards will be mounting a comeback and shall be heading back to Boston for game 6.
RepDaywalker: Biggest comeback in MLB history! jimdoney: blah blah blah jimdoney: You are mine enemy for this series jimdoney: I cannot fraternize with the opposition lol RepDaywalker: have pity on us poor Sox fans RepDaywalker: we have not tasted a championship for decades jimdoney: just be happy 86 years is not the cubbies 96 years RepDaywalker: Cubs makes me think of *chuckle* Nomar! jimdoney: All I have to say is that the Sox are in for a rude awakening at Busch stadium jimdoney: Especially with Ortiz the human error playing first RepDaywalker: It will be cool to check it out RepDaywalker: Thats Big Pappi...the human error :-) RepDaywalker: just gotta keep that error count under four jimdoney: Surprisingly things are going about what I had planned on RepDaywalker: in the WS? jimdoney: Except the Cards starters have been terrible jimdoney: yeah RepDaywalker: cause even I didn't see the ALCS ending up like that RepDaywalker: hey I haven't told you have I, I moved my blog jimdoney: Cards Bullpen BoSox Pen Cards Defense BoSox Defense Offense = Offense RepDaywalker: [link]/ jimdoney: But with Woody getting shelled and Morris pitching ( I still dont know why he starts that game instead of Marquis) RepDaywalker: wasn't that Marquis with the loose shoe? jimdoney: the guy who tripped over second lol yeah that was him jimdoney: he had like 7 days rest and Morris had 3 Morris also has an ERA 2 points better at home than the road I just dopnt get the moves by Tony LaRussa sometimes RepDaywalker: can you fathom Curt and what he has done? RepDaywalker: some say Tony should have bunted on Curt jimdoney: problem is there really wasnt a situation to do so RepDaywalker: yeah I don't like the bunt too much myself jimdoney: Maybe when there were 2 on and 1 out but he still hit and ran so I cant fault him there Matheny just hit a rocket to third for a DP RepDaywalker: I just can't get over the fact that the Sox took the Yanks like that RepDaywalker: curse of A-Rod jimdoney: You had to know it was over when it went back to NY with Rivera blowing 2 in a row jimdoney: No it was the loss of Nomar RepDaywalker: Thank goodness, I could not stand Nomar jimdoney: One of the most overrated position players in the game jimdoney: I have to say the same for Manny tho too maybe I am biased but if I had a guy play defense like he does for my Cards I would be calling for his head on a pike RepDaywalker: yes finally someone with sense, well you are a Reep, I remember here that people felt like they lost their best friend RepDaywalker: Manny's D is tolerated RepDaywalker: because, well he is Manny jimdoney: ugh.... RepDaywalker: makes a great catch in Yank stadium, blows a easy catch later jimdoney: He is such a detriment to your team RepDaywalker: I don't think so jimdoney: and you all just smile and buy his shirts lol RepDaywalker: He and Ortiz have carried the Sox at times RepDaywalker: he makes a error now and then, but who doesn't RepDaywalker: but he is not my favorite player though, so I am not biased RepDaywalker: I liked the move to put Gabe in left for D near the end of the game jimdoney: We'll shall see but I can tell you this you add Ortiz's terrible glove to the 4 errors per game already occuring while at Busch stadium and this series could very easily be tied on wed RepDaywalker: true, no one knows what could happen jimdoney: The only 1B to have a worse fielding percentage than Ortiz in all of the Major Leagues was Piazza RepDaywalker: Ortiz didn't play much though RepDaywalker: we put in Millar a 1B jimdoney: He will have to play in STL RepDaywalker: not like either of them are Doug though jimdoney: It will also be nice watching Pedro have to bat while trying to plunk people inside RepDaywalker: yeah I am just saying that his rating could be because he didn't play much RepDaywalker: like Roger jimdoney: Believe me when I tell you WS or not he will get it back if he dishes it out RepDaywalker: I wouldn't want it any other way RepDaywalker: but your team better not try it.... jimdoney: I just get the vibe from Pedro that he thinks he is to good to get one back RepDaywalker: or we will get Wakefield to throw at ya! jimdoney: Like its ok for him to do it cause he is Pedro but everyone else has to suck it up and play nice RepDaywalker: maybe, I really don't know, I don't think it has ever come up, until now RepDaywalker: him batting that is jimdoney: I dont think Wakefield could really do much damage lol RepDaywalker: oh come on, he is a terror! RepDaywalker: that knuck ball could kill a man! jimdoney: Timlin, Foulke, Schill maybe I would even give ya Lowe lol but not the knuckler RepDaywalker: yeah Tim can't really pitch to people on the inside and strike fear RepDaywalker: I did like it when Perdo threw inside to Godzilla and knocked him down jimdoney: he rocked the ball all series though RepDaywalker: and you have to give it up to one of my favs, Foulke RepDaywalker: or "The Shotgun" as I call him jimdoney: Honestly though I am just pissed I wont be at the games tonmorrow and Wed. jimdoney: Foulke has gotten very lucky and has been hit hard this series RepDaywalker: Well I would not want to go to a game in Boston, crazy people jimdoney: I was looking at flying up there for a game and taking a redeye back so I wouldnt miss work but tickets are like 5 or 6 grand for the cheap seats lol jimdoney: Hey if I can survive playoff hockey in Chicago and Detroit as a visiting fan I can survive anywhere RepDaywalker: I mean the people in Boston celebrate a bit too much RepDaywalker: there has been a death already RepDaywalker: after the ALCS jimdoney: yeah but that was a Cop's fault cant really blame that on anyone but the guy who shot the "non-leathal" round jimdoney: In St. Louis they would just turn the hydrants on and spray you all out of the streets RepDaywalker: I blame the people in the "celebration" *riot* they should know better, the cop fired from a horse that was spooked by a drunk that threw a bottle at the animal RepDaywalker: lol jimdoney: yeah there are a lot of things that impacted the situation but had the cops taken control of the situation from the get go (I mean they had to know it was coming win or lose) then all would have been smooth sailing RepDaywalker: now the Sox are making statements like: celebrate responsibly, show why you are the best fans in teh world jimdoney: This coming from the same city that had the mayor wanting to close parks and ban booze during the games lol RepDaywalker: In Mass they are not allowed to take control, they are always looking over there shoulders, hell the police just got stun-guns to use because some crazy bastard charged the cops with a knife and they shot him in defense RepDaywalker: They should just ban college students :-) RepDaywalker: don't these kids have classes and homework? jimdoney: nope jimdoney: World Series break believe me thats what I am on right now lol RepDaywalker: lol RepDaywalker: I still blame the kids, no riot, no problems, no death, but that doesn't matter now I guess, I just hope this thing doesn't go 7, that would be halloween night in Boston RepDaywalker: I think RepDaywalker: I never understood the riot aspect of a team winning the championship, yeah lets destroy the very city the team represents jimdoney: I am just surprised that New York isnt on fire RepDaywalker: too depressed RepDaywalker: or still in shock jimdoney: I would have suspected that they would have revolted and tried to secceede or something RepDaywalker: you don't know how happy the ALCS made me jimdoney: lmao RepDaywalker: I was sick of hearing the "It has NEVER been done before in the MLB or NBA" RepDaywalker: well, now it has jimdoney: Dont get me wrong I was happy after the NLCS but it was more an expectant happiness and an overcoming of anger I felt after game 5 lol RepDaywalker: and if I see the 1986 World Series replay ONE MORE TIME jimdoney: Well Ortiz did miss a ball in practice today that was very Bucneresque RepDaywalker: I think Terry would have the sense to take Ortiz out late in the game if we were ahead RepDaywalker: the Manager in 1986 didn't have the sense to take out Bukner RepDaywalker: you must admit that Doug M is great at first jimdoney: Buckner honestly shouldnt have been in that game at all given his tendon injury jimdoney: But I am pretty sure if I were him I would have laid down and stopped it with my face RepDaywalker: just as I will admit that your big three scare the heck out of me RepDaywalker: lol RepDaywalker: I don't blame him though, it was the manager jimdoney: Dougie is alright dont understand why he isnt played more often but if I hear anymore talk about how Fanfuckingtastic Mueller and Bellhorn are I am going to be sick RepDaywalker: I like both of them, but Nixon is fanfuckingtastic to me RepDaywalker: saw him in AAA ball hit a walk-off homer RepDaywalker: not the best player I know jimdoney: NIxon is alright but I will never forgive him for wasting a fantasy pick for my team this year RepDaywalker: injury? jimdoney: yeah I drafted him and then he didnt play practically all year RepDaywalker: yeah that did suck, but I will never forget his walk-off homer in last years ALDS jimdoney: the key to game three and you can hold me to this will be the Edmonds and Rolen they have to get over on the inside pitching the 7-8-9 hitters for the Cards have to outwork and outhit the 7-8-9 hitters of the Sox and the bullpen has to continue to be effective jimdoney: If any or all of these happens then the cards win lol RepDaywalker: true jimdoney: oh well I need to finish reading some physiology and crash take it easy and good luck tomorrow night jimdoney: You r gonna need it ;-) RepDaywalker: same to you, but we don't need luck, we have faith

My head was swimming a bit over the ammendments and inivitiatives on the ballot here so went and tried to find out some facts and read the actual language of the proposals.
I found this site and you can go there and read it all for yourself.
Hope this helps some other Floridians. I know it helped me.
Cheers!

And from the darkness....
10.18.04 (12:38 pm) [edit]
I have risen.
Early voting has started here in Florida today and for this occassion I figured that I would post my first stuff here in a month or so and let you all in on a little secret. I will be voting for George Bush. Ok so its not a secret.
What may come as a shock of sorts is that I disagree with the actions taken at a school in regards to a teacher showing Michael Moore's pig flop mocumentary. The school banned the movie. I say don't ban this, show it and explain to the children the biases that lie within the film. Show the film and start a discussion about the poor cinematography and voiceover work in the film. (By the way this is not so much a film in the "Gone With the Wind" sense but more the "it was filmed" sense.) But respect has to be given to those who don't want to watch and/or parents who don't want their children viewing this. It is a "R" rated movie and the children in question in this case would not be old enough to view it elsewhere. Send out a permission slip, those who want to see it can see it, those who don't want to see it can go play kickball. But, as a sidenote to my lib buddies out there, please dont call this censoreship . This is not censoreship. This is a public school not showing a marginalized film to underage children. Nothing more, nothing less.
Anyway I also would REQUIRE the students and teachers who viewed this movie in school to view this one as well. Then and only then would all sides be viewed and the truth be exposed.
So I have broken the silence. Hope that I can regain some discussions and regular postings here. I also hope that those of you out there with the ability to vote and the availibility to vote will.
15 days till election day. Do you know what you candidate stands for? I DO!
Hat Tip to Dean's World for getting my wheel's turning again.

The Cubs Suck!
08.21.04 (6:37 pm) [edit]
This is begining to become a running gag with me here but I just can't let it go.
While my St. Louis Cardinals continue to pad the best record in the league the midwest (psuedo) rivals are tanking per their usual late season swan dive.
One more example of this was tonight's game against central division rival Houston.
Boy do those Cubbies suck.

Sooooo many choices...
08.21.04 (4:05 pm) [edit]
Which one should I get?
I just cant decide. I mean just look at how many there are here.
I do have to say that I am leaning towards this one even if I do have to settle for a replica instead of the orignal 1873 model.
Do you have a favorite?

This is some of the coolest shit I ever read in a long long time. Speed of light exceeded, physics causality non existent, and holograms were all supposed to be part of science fiction but it appears that mayb, just maybe within my lifetime it will be science fact.
Way too cool.

My Apologies....
08.16.04 (3:18 pm) [edit]
It has been brought to my attention that during my hiatus from blogging last month there was no beating back the ferocious and idiotic fallacies of Mikey Moore's latest mockumentary by the Are You High?! site. So in order to rectify this I must post a link to the terrific peice written by Dave Kopel of the Idependence Institute. In it you will find documentation of the 59 most prevelant innaccuracies of the film.
The 59 Deceits
Feel free to reproduce the article and distribute at will as long as you do so free of charge.

Kudos Oprah, kudos.

That is the lame catch phrase being uttered by Pro baseball players in TV spots all over the place this season. Sadly, I must agree with the sentiment. I do not think there is any game more romanticized and more a part of my daily routine or thought than baseball. Why am I going on about this national pasttime? Well because my boys, the St. Louis Cardinals, are running away with the NL Central and have the best record in baseball.

Boy thats a pretty sight.
But wait it gets better. Today the strong and mighty Cards got stronger and well, mightier. They added the 1997 NL MVP and perenial all star Larry Walker from Colorado. His huge bat and excellent fielding skills will be used to give the Cards some solidarity in the of where they have had to platoon fielders on either side of MVP candidate Jim Edmonds all season with the likes of Reggie Sanders, Jim Mabry, So Taguchi, and Roger Cedeno. This makes the best lineup in baseball even better:
                         Average    HR    RBI 1. Tony Womack   .298         5      30 2. Edgar Renteria   .289        8      48 (Gold Glover) 3. Albert Pujols      .326       31      80 (MVP Candidate) 4. Larry Walker       .324      6      20 (In Only 38 GP) 5. Scott Rolen        .334     26     97 (MVP Candidate) 6. Jim Edmonds       .303     30     79 (MVP Candidate) 7. Reggie Sanders   .252      17     51 8. Mike Matheny     .255       2      30 (Perrenial Gold Glover) 9. Pitcher (Team ERA: 3.83 & WHIP: 1.27)
And to mimic the greatest announcer of all time I would like to say, "And thats a winner!!!"

I try not to pay attention to any of the super trials going on in the world. You know what I mean by super trials right? The Kobe case, Scott Peterson, and now Hacking.
Well the little that I do know is the guy has said he was in med school and wasn't (or something I wasn't really paying attention) and he went to buy a mattress 20 minutes after reporting her missing or some type of nonsense, and now he gives an alias to the police while being booked?
I just don't get it. Maybe I should pay more attention. I just can't bring myself to do it. I feel like I am in someway feeding the beast. The beast the is turning all legal proseedings into a game show atmosphere and the idea of a speedy trial is a distant memory only. So, if I am unable to push my ideologies aside would it be possible for one of you out there to keep me informed. lol Just Send me an email.
Cheers!

Have you ever wanted to call your favorite (or least favorite) politician and let him know just what was on your mind (or your chest?)? Well now you can. Well you can for at least one politician.
His name is John Kerry.
Feel free to view his voicemail number here.
Call don't call whatever, I will not be calling. I am sure the number has been disconnected or is being ignored by now; so why bother right? And, besides if 20 some odd years in the Senate hasn't gotten it through his skull that he has been on the wrong side of everything and is still on the wrong side now, what chance do I have to alter his perception right?
Have fun.
